Critic reviews and ratings

  • ...has Salman Khan, Salman Khan and Salman Khan + Entertainment, Entertainment and Entertainment in large doses.

  • All in all, this is one entertainer. Don't go looking for flaws, just enjoy, Dabangg style.

  • The film is formulaic, but great fun!

  • If you don't like Salman Khan, Dabanng 2 won't pack a punch for you.

  • ...apna Salman returns in top form and cheer and really, that’s what will delight diehard fans.

  • If Dabangg 2 was always about Salman Khan revelling in top form, the superstar doesn't disappoint. He makes Chulbul Pandey even more lovable this time- cool shades, wry humour, crackling stunts and smooth chemistry with the pretty Sonakshi, all very much in place.

  • For a fan of the star in question, all that matters is whether the star seems to be having fun. In which case Dabanng 2 is just the ticket, since Salman looks to be having the time of his life. The film itself is better than the original -- or, to word it differently, is less unwatchable.

  • ...encashes two brands completely - Salman Khan and Dabangg itself. The film works more for the actor than for the film itself.

  • ...with the same formulas, sequences and story may be a case of old wine in new bottle but it still makes for an enjoyable watch.

    49

    Critic rating (?)

  • There can be no denying that Salman Khan is perfectly cut out for the carefree Robin Hood act that he has made his own. Unfortunately, the Dabangg 2 screenplay is devoid of any fresh ideas.

  • ...belongs to Salman and that’s the only reason you’d want to go for it. It is quite an entertainer, but only for Salman fans (like me).

    49

    Critic rating (?)

  • Because he is being Salman, whose thing of `don’t take me seriously, just have fun’ takes us into a zone where all of `Dabangg 2’ and its settings and characters become comic-book.

    Critic rating (?)

  • All said and done, the cliches work because of the phenomenon called Salman Khan. Take him away and the film will look as flat as a bottle of soda left too long in the sun.

    49

    Critic rating (?)

  • What this film needed was personality and character; what it's left with is sameness. But that's probably enough for Salman Khan fans.

    49

    Critic rating (?)

  • The film is fun and funny only in parts, not a complete washout but certainly a completely unworthy successor to Dabangg.

    49

  • My review of Dabangg ended with a plea for a better story for Chulbul. Like so much else in Dabangg 2, that too remains the same. Can someone please write a terrific plot for this terrific character?

  • ...will delight fans of people being swung around in slow motion as well as those who’ve wondered what the world looks like from the inside of a blender.

    49

    Critic rating (?)

  • The bang in this Dabangg is missing. So is a narrative.

    39

    Critic rating (?)

  • ...aren’t we tired of watching the same film in its various avatar over and over again? It’s the same gimmicky action sequences, same item numbers, with the same actors telling us the same unoriginal story.

    39

    Critic rating (?)

  • A staid affair. There is no real conflict in this film. You half expect the villain to come up and ask Salman for an autograph.

    39

    Critic rating (?)

  • ...is one of those films that blusters forward to fulfil its obvious purpose—to make money by doing little. It is the job of a hack director.

    29

    Critic rating (?)

  • What do you call a film trying hard to be exactly like its prequel? Cashing in on established brands is a popular and safe business tactic but not delivering more in the second round is a sign of not only foolishness but also complacency. Dabangg-2, from that measure, must be the laziest film ever made then.

    29

    Critic rating (?)

  • If Abhinav Kashyap tried his best to keep things realistic before going all out loud and turning it into a spoof of a Rajni film, Arbaaz Khan, the director of Dabanng 2 has no pretensions of objectivity or sanity.

    29

    Critic rating (?)

  • ...increases the dose of wannabe Rajnikanth, only this time around the serving feels lukewarm. But that means nothing to the Saman-fan now, does it?
