  • FryDay

Dogra’s direction is unimaginative and the production values so sub-par that besides Govinda fans with a penchant for physical comedy, there is no reason to thank god for this FryDay.

  • Sui Dhaaga

For a movie that stays so true to reality throughout, a few moments towards the climax are the only time a very “filmi” note is struck. But in a wholly heartwarming tale, it's such a small misstep, it barely counts as one.

  • Pataakha

It's explosive but subtle; it's emotive but doesn't take itself too seriously as a film. It could have benefited with a tighter edit, but for the most part I couldn't take my eyes away from the screen.

  • Manto

Nandita retains this honesty, and even celebrates it. She also spells out the consequences brutally. Her latest piece of work may not be for the masses, but that in no way robs her film of any merit.

  • Love Sonia

The acting recompenses for some directorial and script limitations. Often the story feels like a series of headlines linked together. But the compelling performances and a hard-hitting storyline power Love Sonia.

  • Gali Guleiyan

It’s an ambitious first feature, and while Jain manages to pull off many things rather ably, he falters at other points. Many of the stumbles are painted over by a fine cast.

  • Genius

It does not take a genius to figure out that the smart play for Utkarsh might have been to debut in a role better suited to his personality and appeal, over an old-fashioned showcase mounted by a zealous father designed to deliver his son as a lover-boy and action hero.

  • Fanney Khan

A weak script with some directing inconsistencies, Fanney Khan had room to be an enjoyable comedy or satire. Instead it careened towards over-the-top melodrama with debatable messaging.

  • Sanju

...is an entertaining film, and has all the elements of a blockbuster — but one wishes the honesty and nuance went beyond just the performances.

  • Race 3

...is a funny, kitschy and audacious film. In between the action shots (clearly where most of the money has been spent, after bhai), the film tends to make you go 'what the hell just happened' more times than you can count.

  • Phamous

Given the absence of technical finesse and the disorderly script, it’s a wonder that actors of the caliber of Menon, Tripathi and Sheirgill opted to participate in this shoddy film.

  • Bhavesh Joshi Superhero

While Motwane’s blueprint is derivative (you will think Kick Ass and Arrow), his thoughts and setting are localised enough to make this a convincing character within the genre. But the film’s flaw is that it’s trying to say too much and doing so at such a painful pace that much of a good intention is lost in execution.

  • Veere Di Wedding

It’s strange that filmmakers take some risk when mounting a film like Veere Di Wedding, and then don’t back it with sensible writing all the way through, trusting the audience to understand a modicum of nuance and subtlety.

...the enormously evocative aroma of childhood nostalgia that floats through the film — its excesses balanced by the tender interplay between memory and forgetting involving a conflicted father-daughter relationship — and the strong performances, turn it into a poignant and heartfelt adaptation of a beloved tale.

  • Baaghi 2

It's not a well-structured film, and the story has many loopholes; the performances are over-the-top and the plot points convenient. However, some credit must be given to Baaghi 2 for staying true to its genre. If you're a fan of high-action dramas, you may just (gasp!) enjoy this film.

  • Hichki

The vibe of the film is inconsistent, and this glaring 'hichki' can be felt throughout the film. In parts, it is funny and in parts it gets very dramatic.

  • Dil Juunglee

...the huge potential of two talented actors was completely wasted because the filmmakers decided to stick to the same old formulaic and cheesy way of making a typical Bollywood ‘love’ story.

  • Welcome to New York

The intent behind Welcome to New York leaves many questions – why is the main one. Why 3D, why make this movie, why give Karan Johar a double role, why not use more cameos? Why watch this indulgent snoozefest? That last question is the only one with a clear answer.
