...is richly textured with performances, beautifully layered with content, and sprinkled with occasional humor.

  • Ittefaq

Hurried in its story-telling and a little too relaxed in its execution, Ittefaq makes the biggest mistake a thriller could make - it tells a gripping story instead of showing it.

  • Tu Hai Mera Sunday

A cute comment on everyday, urban life. Becomes a little 'out there', every once in a while. But so does everyday life, right? While the philosophising is a tad lame, the romantic bits are adorable.

...made me wonder, what makes me sadder - a film which starts off very well, but ends up being just about average or one that isn't enjoyable at all.

  • Judwaa 2

Unabashedly silly. Brings a smile or two, even if soulless – that's exactly what you expect though, right?

  • Newton

You brace yourself for the highest degrees of scathing cynicism when you walk in to a film about India's election process. You walk out with a smile that balances the skepticism with healthy hopefulness. Those are just a few “when was the last time that happened” packed in 100+ minutes.

  • Simran

...has a perfectly flawed lead character, played almost to perfection by Kangna Ranaut, the film has a close-to-perfect climax too. If only, the plot didn't accelerate to being outland-ish mid-way.

  • Daddy

If this film was made to invoke sympathy for a man who might wrongfully be in prison today, it didn't really do much in that direction. Lacking balance, it just might have pushed the audience, that can be bothered to care, even further in the other direction.

  • Baadshaho

Delivers a story with lots of style - in the first half. Alas, you come to expect what happens in the last hour and lose the thrill along the way.

  • Qaidi Band

Gets marks just for picking up a different issue and retains them by not falling prey to all possible clichés.

  • A Gentleman

Comedy, action, romance – An above average entertainer in each of those elements. But, put together it becomes just about average.

  • Bareilly Ki Barfi

Neither does it have the sparks of a romance, nor the laughs of a comedy. What it does have is some fine performances, lovely details and nuances that are not usually found in Hindi films.

  • Toilet

Brings up many important issues related not just to religion, culture or even sanitation. It points a huge finger at sexism and the politics of both home and nation. But, is extremely preachy through most of it.

  • Raag Desh

A war movie, a relatively lesser known independence story, a court room drama. An intense story yet not an 100% immersive experience.

  • Shab

Erratic in engaging and evoking empathy. Could be watched for its director and theme.

  • Jagga Jasoos

Cute, fun detective story taking on huge issues of the world. Juggles all of that well but becomes long-drawn in the process.

  • Mom

It is slow, it is very predictable. Yet, it is watchable. That's something, right? Mostly for its performances.

  • Behen Hogi Teri

The only thing different about this “parents vs. lovers” love story is represented in the title. The title itself is one big eyeroll. So that's that.

  • Hindi Medium

The film uses mildly-comical satire to put its point across. However, the problem arises when writers fail to wrap it up as satire and succumb to sermonizing.

  • Baahubali 2: The Conclusion

There is drama in a film and then there is grand drama. In the latter, the story matters even less. It is the scale, the action, the special effects that the film is shooting for and achieves.
