  • Dharam Sankat Mein

...opens with promise, bringing up concepts that need to be spoken about, but you soon realize that the film is not as radical as it could have been, which should have been clear with its choice of title.

  • Kaabil

Hrithik does all the heavy lifting and remains the only bright spot in this dispirited mess of a movie. He still has the moves. What he needs is a plot.

  • Game Over

Clearly, Pannu has worked hard, and there are a couple of genuinely scary moments, but the rest of it is too stretched: even the 102 minute run time feels too long.

  • Gali Gali Chor Hai

This could have been a film with bite to it, given that we are all so exercised these days with corruption and its high-profile fighters and shameless purveyors. But satire is not Bollywood’s thing.

  • Phhir

...a 'punarjanam' film, featuring a disappearing wife, a distraught husband, and a smashing medium, and how everything falls into place right towards the end.

  • Dhadak

Khatter has a mobile, expressive face. He is a natural. Kapoor, though, has a hard time emoting. On their own, they each have a couple of scenes which they work: together, there is no zing, no `zingaaat’.

  • Kabir Singh

To watch a character like Kabir Singh do this thing for nearly three hours places the viewer squarely into a place of conflict. Here’s a fellow who thinks going through life yelling, shouting, snorting-and-drinking on the job, assuaging his raging libido with crass directness, basically being a sexist we-will-not-use-the-word-that-follows-naturally-here, is an acceptable thing.

  • Main Tera Hero

The good Govinda fronted for him, David used his superlative editing skills to keep up a rat-a-tat-pace, and we all happily rolled down the aisles. But it’s been a while since Dhawan hit his stride.

  • Saaho

Everything a thriller needs is in here, and you settle down, fully prepared for a non-stop, breathless, firing-from-all-cylinders ride. But Saaho turns out to be a damp squib.

  • Yaariyan

...seems to have been cobbled together from ‘Main Hoon Na’ and ‘F A L T U’, and ‘Student Of The Year’, even going back to ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’.

  • Tum Bin 2

Two guys, one girl, and the mess they can create amongst themselves may be the oldest story in the book, but it can quite easily be refreshed given the right story and treatment. Unlike the first one which brought these elements together nicely, it doesn’t happen here, despite some well executed moments.
