  • Gabbar Is Back

...a hectic, loud film that skids from one episode to another introducing characters — all prefabricated, one-dimensional ones necessary for simulating a vigilante melodrama — and pushing the story to its inevitable end.

  • Daawat-e-Ishq

...pulls out all sorts of tricks to distract us from what’s essentially a cureless dud, a no-go, a film which really has a one-to-thousand chance of being remembered for anything except that it got made and got a theatre release. It’s eminently forgettable.

  • Bombay Talkies

One is rather good, one is middling, one seems to have missed the point of the concept entirely, and one pays homage to a hero and our cinema in such a backhanded fashion that I wondered why the director bothered.

  • Bhoothnath Returns

...tries to strike a high moral tone in its social messaging, but creatively it doesn’t flinch from being crassly exploitative. It made me cringe so often that I wished this clever concept had been handed over to a directoir with a light touch.

  • Bahubali

...starts off as a tacky, low-budget, DD-esque film. Even the initial CGI and brushed-out-wire flying stunts are crude and untidy. But, as it moves forward, the story twisting and revealing one character after another, with secrets, mistakes and mystery, it all begins to come together.

  • Badlapur Boys

The kabaddi playing boys are not bad either. Only trouble is that all they mutter “kabaddi, kabaddi” in a decidedly third-rate story where the moral victory is, well, a dud.

  • Aurangzeb

The film’s story, though predictable, proceeds with impressive self-assuredness and packs in that very rare item, an interesting, thrilling climax after several surprising twists.

  • Ajji

...is bold in its decisions of what it shows and what it doesn’t. It’s sensitive and yet determined to make us see, imagine, join the dots.   It’s not interested in making us comfortable, help us tide over all that’s unpleasant, violent, vile.

  • Agneepath

...this Agneepath is more than a remake or a homage to the original. It’s about a son righting a wrong and this emotion makes us connect with the film immediately.
