  • Aladin

Director Ghosh's most ambitious venture till date is derailed by a tedious plot and dialogues. The mystery, fantasy world is overrun by a juvenile love story.

  • Tum Mile

...might have worked if it had stuck to the love story - about a mature relationship that sours when control and ego, dreams and ambition clash. A 26 July film it is not. If only it had not pretended to be.

  • Kurbaan

A tighter script and edit, less dubious politics and stronger characters could have made this a great thriller.

  • Agent Vinod

A disjointed narrative, uninspired camerawork and set action pieces that fail to wow make this film a jumpy ride.

  • Tezz

The tension never builds up, nor do you feel sympathy for any character. In other words, it lives up to expectations and is not worth the time or expense.

  • Ishaqzaade

The director captures small-town India perfectly and builds up his characters with requisite vigour. In spite of the choppy second hour, Ishaqzaade is still worth a watch.

  • Department

If you accept that Varma is spoofing his own films and the genre of underworld action movies, then Department is hilarious!

  • Maximum

Given the wishy-washy story and the inept direction by Gurmeet Singh, the usually dependable actors, Kapadia and Manu Rishi, are unable to make anything out of it.

  • Fugly

...is faux-righteous, and the punctured script makes it silly, pretentious and technically wanting.

  • Bang Bang!

Knight and Day was mediocre at best. The remake comes with that legacy and even experienced writers like Sujoy Ghosh, Suresh Nair and Abbas Tyrewala are unable to add bang to this bland concoction.

  • Fireflies

The pace can be quite taxing as you wonder when he will reveal the point of his study of human relationships, fettered emotions, and final resolution.

  • Tevar

A number of tropes in this script, for instance the damsel in distress who whimpers and then falls hopelessly in love with her knight in shining armour, are, like this film, conservative and well past their sell-by date.
