  • 7 Khoon Maaf

...not a bad film by any measure. Though the standards Vishal has set for himself with his prior track record are so high that it comes across as almost offensive in its mediocrity.

  • Admissions Open

The film lays a huge stress on its style quotient, which is quite pertinent to the subject. However, thinking that the high style can substitute for substantial writing is a huge folly.

...if lifting a film without giving due credit to the original is a crime, officially adapting a classic and murdering it is a sin. Bumm Bumm Bole is an occurence of that sin at its fathomable worst.

Kiran Rao does enough in Dhobi Ghat to warrant an expectation fueled second look. Though had she shown a little more courage by going deeper into the cross-cultural undercurrents, which she seems fairly capable of, she could have come up with a winner instead of a middling effort.

...a road thriller with dark comedy thrown in for good measure. And more than anything else, its the casting that makes the film cross into the realm of decent.

  • Golmaal 3

Its a visual treat, a technical feat in scale and an emotional roller-coaster. The best news is that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is well on his way to finding the right balance between these three aspects of a film.

  • Khatta Meetha

...while it may satiate the yearnings of a grossly ill-exposed audience, purely on the strength of telling a lesser known story and the impeccable production values, it is by far the most dishonest film to have come from Gowariker.

...Pradeep Sarkar is stuck in a time warp. He handles the film the way you'd expect a trade union leader to handle the responsibilities of the CEO of a multinational. In other words, he’s completely out of place and depth.

  • Milenge Milenge

The film could have made some telling comments on the misuse of power by the high and mighty, but instead, it takes some creative liberties in places where it could have easily avoided it.

  • Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai

Once Upon… seeks to entertain – it does so resoundingly well; it seeks to establish parallels with real life characters and events as well as to create a period ambience of the 70’s – this part is executed with mixed success. Though when it comes to its third ambition – that of texturing it with a moral debate – what comes across is a half-hearted attempt and failure.

...scores that cheeky single primarily because one approaches it with zilch expectations, given the recent outings of its helmsman and leading star. But cheeky singles are just that…cheeky singles, and it takes more than that to win a match...

...is highly flawed but packs in quite a few punches that justify the name helming it. Sadly, the meatier of these punches from an overall cinematic appeal standpoint, are too little and too late by the time they come in.

  • Rakht Charitra 2

...an engaging watch despite the predictable plot and is comparatively better than RC-1 as the mindless killing spree is replaced by more calculated plotting and more humane characters.

Though it has its share of flaws and is nowhere in the league of its predecessors named earlier, it does manage to strike quite a few chords.

...a complete hotchpotch. What could have been made into an outstanding film, turned out to be a director's feeble and disastrous attempt at trying to make meaningful cinema.

...is a victory of sorts. It represents the triumph of content over gloss, of performance over locations and of wit over pretentions. It makes you laugh and at the same time, makes you think about a few things, big and small.
