  • Stree

The comedy and social take work, even while the horror and romance are just about ok as a side. Put together though the genre mix gives the film a unique flavour making the smartly written script quite enjoyable.

  • Harud

One of the most visually impactful films in recent times, Harud may not be palatable to all primarily because of its pace. But the sheer power of the manner in which Kashmir has been captured on celluloid will make it worth a watch for many.

...is an art museum. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the perfectly chiseled curator and Hrithik Roshan an almost statue. And this once, it’s not his acting I’m complaining about, the script demands him to stay put. You are watching them etched in many exotic, exquisite paintings frame after frame. So, what if the very basis of the story is pointless and there are gaping holes which are difficult to digest.

  • Delhi Belly

It's hip to be abusive, and it's as cool to be liberal about sex as it is to be about toilet humor. And that's exactly what Delhi Belly is - hip.

...has some really "Whoa! Cool" action sequences. Yeah, yeah even if you are exposed to "Hollywood" action. Now if only, the story had a nail-biting edge to it...

  • Margarita With A Straw

Touching upon a lot of intense topics, Margarita With A Straw gets you up and listening about all of them through a tale about a “different” person. But it doesn't necessarily get you engaged through and through.

...made me wonder, what makes me sadder - a film which starts off very well, but ends up being just about average or one that isn't enjoyable at all.

You forget you are watching a film for a lot of the 2+ hours. Doesn't wrench your heart or gut, but works on the mind. Hopefully.

  • Anjaana Anjaani

After all, you can say "boy meets girl" only in so many different ways. Despite that when you have fun; and you care for the boy and the girl; you know you are watching a brilliant film.

  • Dedh Ishqiya

Slow, long and yet it balances between taking its poetry too seriously and dumbing it down for our benefit. Only a few spots you wish were polished a tad better.

  • Thugs Of Hindostan

It’s relevance to today’s times is striking. Interestingly, Thugs of Hindostan includes enough of the trappings to make you cringe and yet manages to keep you entertained.

  • Murder 2

It's one of those films where you come out with only the villain and what he is capable of. If you can handle creepy, sexual violence, go for it. It is sure to provide "that" kind of a thrill.

  • Katiyabaaz

Insightful, scathing and even a tad bit depressing at times, the film is crisp and thoroughly entertaining, but with also a rather pertinent point to it all.

...carries equanimity of sorts in the “life is what it is” kind of a way with simplicity and flair in equal measure.

  • Halkaa

Works as the story of a little boy who doesn’t have access to a clean toilet, might seem heavy-handed if watched as a movie with an agenda.

  • Chhapaak

The extra effort to not make it exploitative is evident. The audience is guided to follow the victims’ lead—be with what is and what can be, rather than what has been. In the process, the film misses out on becoming an immersive experience, and we get a breezy film on a weighty topic.

  • Badmaash Company

It's everything that's fun about a conjob - the core idea, the wool-over-the-eyes, the joke at the victim's expense. Everyone gets their just desserts and surprisingly all ends well.

  • Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

...the kind of film you wouldn’t mind watching despite the fact that there isn’t much in the film that is memorable. With a cast that will win your heart and music that’ll play on loop in your head for a while after, the film is fun but rarely much more.

I don't remember the last time my emotions were engaged in a thriller, let alone a pounding heart and racing mind. A psychological thriller that hooks, thrills and keeps you thinking after it is done.
