Bombay Talkies
Sure they have their blips and flaws, but Bombay Talkies made me want to stand up and break out into spontaneous applause on multiple occasion.

Saare Jahaan Se Mehnga
...a laudable effort in the genre but has too many factors working against it.

Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns
Keeping much of the original’s spirit intact, even surpassing it in many ways.

-
I Me Aur Main
The plot itself is non-existent, hinging on clichés and one wonders how the talent was convinced into doing this film given the lack of meat.

The Attacks Of 26/11
But it is RGV who has the last laugh as he guilt-trips you into standing up through his reversescrolling end titles in memory of the lives lost in 26/11. And even though you’ve battled through this personal assault of a film, you have no option but to comply.

Kai Po Che!
...is interesting at many levels, deftly executed, and a film born out of conviction.

Jayanta Bhai Ki Luv Story
It’s a sweet little film that must’ve sounded great on paper, but just doesn’t quite keep you engaged the way it should’ve on screen.

Murder 3
It is supposed to be a story about the consequences of mistrust and jealousy, it turns out instead being a simplistic, plot-driven B-movie that depends much too heavily on a single twist.

Special 26
Despite its drawbacks, in the end Special 26 is a period heist film that Bollywood can be proud and has a high entertainment-quotient.

Vishwaroop
...the film is of a massive scale, well shot, the action set pieces are up to scratch; but it feels long, is occasionally tedious and performances are way too over the top.

David
For it’s sheer spunk, look, music, performances, and momentary highs, David is a film worth looking into.

AkaashVani
...where you’d expect writer and director Luv Ranjan to turn the genre on its head and push the envelope further, he lands an ordinary film that is perhaps a little too conventional.

Mumbai Mirror
...the trailer felt like one long B-grade item song. Arre, the whole film is like that!

Inkaar
It’s fantastic to see a director who finds himself at ease working out of his comfort zone, challenging himself and transitioning between diverse subjects.

Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola
Fun for cineastes, lost on the public. However, the intersection of Bhardwaj’s extravagance, a business end catering to a perceived public palate, and the ineffective delivery of a social message is off centre and misses the bulls eye.

Table No. 21
Concept-driven maybe, but Table No. 21 remains, at the end, only that - a good concept on paper that is never quite realised in its execution: whether it is in the writing, directing, or acting departments.

Rajdhani Express
...may be the year’s first release but it is already in the running for the worst film of the year. Or ever.

Dabangg 2
...aren’t we tired of watching the same film in its various avatar over and over again? It’s the same gimmicky action sequences, same item numbers, with the same actors telling us the same unoriginal story.

Khiladi 786
I felt it is the least cheesy movie in the cheesy category this year because it had moments of self-deprecating humour, and the women here are treated nicely. Let’s hope it doesn’t cost them.

Talaash
if you’re going to watch Talaash solely to understand “what’s the suspense about” you’re going to be disappointed. Try and empathise instead with the characters. Reward then, will look for and find you.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan

1920 - Evil Returns
Songs are entirely unnecessary appendages, the camera is uninspired, and most disappointing of all: the horror elements don't work. If anything, they're unintentionally funny.

Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana

Ajab Gazabb Love
If you like light comedies and if you can put up with a boring first half, some preachy-teachy moments, and a gamut of clichés, you can chance AGL.

Rush
Maybe it'd have worked four years ago but even the big resolution is old hat. Unless you're a die-hard Hashmi fan (how many millions again?), there's no rush to see this.

Chakravyuh
Watch this film for it’s lucid, dramatic presentation of a nation’s problems.
