  • Gone Kesh

Debutant director Qasim Khallow should be lauded for managing to contain this story within two hours. He also ensures the proceedings aren’t hurried and keeps one hooked even when the inevitable climax is predictable.

  • Gold

Director Reema Kagti ticks all the boxes here but seems a bit afraid that the proceedings could spill over into forced patriotism.

  • Game Over

If the first half could’ve been knocked off and this was dedicatedly a film about home invasion, it would’ve surely been a more focussed, if not a more thrilling watch. But then, that would have been an entirely different film.

  • Gali Guleiyan

Writer-director Dipesh Jain invests in his characters and encourages audiences to experience their lives and speculate about the circumstances they find themselves in. The film, for a large part, manages to effectively convey the discomfort the characters endure.

  • Fukrey Returns

If one approaches this one as a comedy, it would be mildly satisfying as it sporadically strays into the thriller space and the strategically-planted comic elements seem forced and constructed. But hope for nothing, and you won't be bitterly disappointed.

  • FryDay

This would also cater to those who want to avoid the blazing heat and spend a couple of hours in an air-conditioned environment.

  • Firangi

There are films that seem bearable when you go in with zero expectations and there are those that disappoint even when you're prepared to have your brains grilled. No prize for guessing which category this one falls in.

  • Fever

Director Rajeev Jhaveri attempts a Hollywood-style narrative with conviction but underestimating the audience's intellect and oversimplifying the plot makes it a tiring watch.

  • Fanney Khan

...is only mildly inspirational, and lacks the intensity and thrill that would force audiences to imagine the worst when the story takes an unexpected turn.

  • Family Of Thakurganj

While a bit late in the day, filmmakers are waking up to the prospect of producing their own version of Gangs of Wasseypur. Sadly, their ambitions aren’t backed by compelling writing, a commendable cast or even a maker who could assemble a narrative.

  • Evening Shadows

...the welcome turn that Indian society has taken towards its view on the queer community in recent years will have a direct impact on how the same content will now be viewed and assimilated. In such a light, Sridhar Rangayan’s Evening Shadows seems a bit dated.

  • Ekkees Tareekh Shubh Muhurat

...Hindi films have become obsessed with weaving stories that convey the life, labour and laughs of small-town India. While some closely-depicted accounts that lend themselves to situational hilarity have been remarkable successes, others feel that merely furnishing a socially-awkward premise is enough. This one, unsurprisingly, falls in the latter.

  • Drishyam

...could've been crisper and woven in a few more tricks and surprises. But it is only a lazy remake and a lot is lost in translation.

  • Dream Girl

While it packs in some sharp one-liners and furnishes bizarre situations, it doesn’t go beyond that. It’s almost as if the makers were so excited with the very premise that they didn’t bother to figure out where they wanted to take this story.

  • Dobaara

Agreed director Prawaal Raman has a faint body of work to defend or live up to. But this doesn't entitle him to reduce horror to hilarity.

  • Dilwale

...to take them (SRK and Kajol) for granted and expect that their mere presence would negate the need for a story, screenplay or any other element that makes a film, scripts Dilwale's doom.

  • Dil Juunglee

Taapsee Pannu extends dignity to average writing and conveys her character’s evolution well. Saqib Saleem consistently manages the accent of an average Delhi munda but barely digs any deeper...
