...questions traditional methods of teaching while using traditional film-writing, sort-of missing its own point. Thankfully, it is engaging while it lasts.

Yes, it gets abstract, yet it stays very well within grasp as it points at and makes us think about our own obsessions.

  • Titli

Noir taken to such a grim level that you disconnect after a bit and begin to look at it as someone narrating a gruesome story.

  • Rangoon

The tiny step Bharadwaj takes towards Shakespeare is worth an applause, and a second-viewing too. Even so, the writing though has miles to go.

  • Manikarnika

The makers take the strength of the original, real-life story and character for granted and entirely focus on form, rather than content. Good thing then that the brave warrior woman needs no man or depth in writing to shine.

  • War

Slick action, chiselled heroes, stunning locations make up for the uneven writing. Yep, the story is part-clever and part-amusing, making it a guilty-pleasure kind-of-a-watch.

  • OMG Oh My God!

A logical yet over-simplified take on the arguments against blind faith. The attempt is to keep the arguments balanced yet the film's events are way too convenient.

The sharp dialogues support a fragmented plot. The smart visuals are accompanied by jarring background music. The story is neither about carrom nor about the communal riots. The movie is neither here nor there.

...is a partial success at an attempt to show how children succumb and lose their confidence to pressure from parents. Soon enough though, it contradicts itself and becomes a predictable story.

  • A Gentleman

Comedy, action, romance – An above average entertainer in each of those elements. But, put together it becomes just about average.

I am pleasantly surprised by the attempt at a detailed story. That, in the end, it all turns out to be rather ‘meh’ as expected, is another matter.

  • Zokkomon

Harry Potter meets Krissh meets not-so-Home-Alone, unfortunately in a very superficial, blah sort-of a way. And yet, there is enough for the under-10s to enjoy indoors on a hot summer day.

  • Policegiri

...but for the saving grace in terms Prakash Raj's performance and a few lines, Policegiri has barely anything going for it.

  • Dhadak

It’s like any other love story that struggles with familial approval. Since the approval is in focus, there is barely any attempt to convince you of the love. Here, the disapproval isn’t spine-chilling either.

  • Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga

Ultimately, falls into the category of stories that one of the film’s own characters describes: superficial. While doing so though it has some adorable moments, despite giving away way too much in its trailer. And of course, since it is issue-based, it cannot resist a predictably preachy climax.

Lovely locales are shot and edited beautifully and set to some very nice background music. But the story doesn't fly that high.

  • Bang Bang!

Expectations met. Action-packed, lots of Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif, passable stunt and close to no story.

  • Guddu Rangeela

A thick plot that throws in surprises but ends the usual way – blah. An overwhelming sense of wanting to send a social message, even if understandable, doesn't help the cause.

...has decent animation by Indian standards which equate to very average ones by international ones, notwithstanding the differences in budgets. Also, the great epic has been tinkered around with to no advantage.
