  • Pihu

Kapri’s debut feature, Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho, was marked by the same tendency to bite off more sociological profundities than he could chew.

  • Mom

The emotional pull of the first half and Sridevi’s acting excellence notwithstanding, Mom in many ways is as dangerous as the loud, raucous, not-even-pretending-to-be-progressive-about-women commercial Bollywood of the 1970s and ’80s.

  • Veerappan

In certain aspects of storytelling then, this is a film that cannot be ignored. It is however hard to get past the poor acting by Joshi and Ray and that overly loud background score.

  • Jagga Jasoos

...brings together a range of quality ingredients, but something has gone wrong in the cooking of it. It is highly engaging up to a point, but needed tighter writing and direction to stay on course.

  • Bombay Talkies

...boasts of several talented actors and many worthwhile moments – moments of laughter, courage and poignance. It just doesn’t have the jaadu that the movie madaari promised.

  • Ajji

Sushama Deshpande’s striking face and screen presence, and young Sharvani Suryavanshi’s natural acting are no doubt worthy of a full-fledged film. Ajji, as it stands now though, is well begun but just half done.

  • Go Goa Gone

...if you can handle the relatively stretched and sinking second half, then it’s got to be said that the first half is definitely worth seeing and even the second half offers occasional scares and laughs.

  • Race 2

...there’s a bit of mindless fun to be had with Race 2, but for the most part it is such an unimaginative replication of Race 1 that it’s hard not to feel taken for granted as a viewer.

  • Main Tera Hero

It’s nowhere close to Dhawan’s best, but it’s got enough paisa vasool elements to remind us of how ridiculously brilliant the man was when he peaked with Govinda in the 1990s.

  • Bhoothnath Returns

...until it gets confused about what it wants to be – feature film or docu, children’s film or adult fare, light-hearted entertainer with a message or dead serious – Bhoothnath Returns is a lot of fun.

  • Gold

...has its occasional redeeming moments, but for the most part it just skims the surface of a landscape once examined with such depth by Chak De! India.

  • Mubarakan

...despite the considerable dip in pace in the second half, Bazmee has delivered to a great extent with Mubarakan. The film does not strain the viewer’s intellect too much yet does not demand that we – to quote a reviewer cliché – “leave our brains at home”.

  • Ishkq In Paris

if you’re a die-hard romantic like me, then you might be in a mood to close your eyes to this film’s many flaws. I suspect that's the only way Ishkq in Paris would be your cup of tea.

  • Krrish 3

...with all its blemishes, Krrish 3 still has a lot to offer: a loveable, beautiful-looking superhero, an intriguing female antagonist, hugely entertaining action sequences...

  • Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi

...is not without flaws, but they are overshadowed by the absence of references to farts, poop and animal backsides, homophobia, misogyny and other ugly biases that have repeatedly reared their heads in the kind of comedies Sinha herself has been a part of over the years.

  • Coffee Bloom

...I found Coffee Bloom an unexpectedly satisfying film. It is paced in a fashion that might be considered too slow and too languid by some. To me though it felt relaxed, reflective, unusual and offbeat.
