  • Bombay Velvet

...is more like a roller coaster ride, as it takes you on a dizzy high with its charming ambience and music that is bound to stay with you for long, but later you are brought down not so gently with the underwhelming plot and lack of punches.

Each film comes with a distinct emotion. Zoya’s film has a wide-eyed innocent feel to it, Dibakar’s film has muted passion, Johar’s film is about helplessness and Kashyap’s film is about optimism and faith in the face of harsh reality.

Look around. Chances are, the 'audience' is probably there to 'work' in silence. There will probably be more interesting things happening around you.

  • Bodyguard

He flexes his biceps, repeats mad dance moves, spouts whistle-deserving dialogues and yes, his shirt divorces his body once again. Predictable? Maybe, but who's complaining? Not bhaijan's fans for sure.

Except the non-superhero on the screen, like the movie itself, merely moves around in convenient circles, and head-splitting clichés.

  • Begum Jaan

This picture, though slightly low-budget, is more over-the-top, or bombastic, driven to much melodrama, in the interest of grabbing attention, and popular entertainment, as it were.

Can a couple turn back from a serious relationship and genuinely remain friends still? The answer to that will always be fuzzy. A lot like this film. But, this is fun. What’s there not to like about that?

Here's what the film compels you to do though. Read up more and more about the case. This is already saying a lot. Last time that happened? Maybe Anurag Kashyap's Black Friday? Woah, now that's a seriously tall compliment.
