Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey
...a noble attempt at restoring glory to long-forgotten heroes but honestly, I felt more charged and patriotic in the last 40 minutes of Lagaan than I did in this entire film.

Break Ke Baad
I'm officially instituting the two and three- quarter star rating on our show. This is for films, which show promise and sparkle but eventually don't deliver the goods.

Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu
A film like this required more inventive and flamboyant writing.

Guzaarish
Combining euthanasia with song-and-dance is a tough, tough feat and despite his prodigious talent, Bhansali can’t pull it off.

Dunno Y Na Jaane Kyun...
The script, performances, dialogue and direction are so staggeringly inept that Dunno Y is an instant classic and the latest entrant to my list of so-bad-they-are-good films.

Daayen Ya Baayen
...a film made with love. Bela has a great affection for her characters. I'm recommending it with reservations. You need a lot of patience for this one.

Rakht Charitra – I
...how much you relish Rakta Charitra is directly connected to your threshold for gore.

Ramayana
...an ambitious step toward better homegrown cinema for children. I just wish it had more crackle.

Knock Out
...a mediocre filmmaker isn’t one who steals blatantly. He is one who steals blatantly and still can’t come up with a half decent film.
Oct 2010
-
Aakrosh
...has moments of power but most of these are copied, some even down to the dialogue.
Oct 2010
-
Do Dooni Chaar
...is a modest film and I mean that in the best sense of the word. I recommend that you make time for it.
Oct 2010

Anjaana Anjaani
...has a flatness that is unique. The screenplay, co-written by Siddharth and Advaita Kala from a story by Mamata Anand, goes nowhere fast.

Robot
...is exhausting. You won’t have much energy left when it’s done. But this roller-coaster ride should be experienced.

Dabangg
There are too many songs and too, too much fighting, which becomes more gory and gratuitous as the film unfolds. Dabangg feels longer than it is and way more exhausting than it should. Still I recommend that you see the film for the sheer pleasure of watching Salman Khan in top form.

We Are Family
It has the essence of a fabulous weepie. What it delivers teeters on the edge of mediocrity, swinging wildly from the vacuous to the mawkish.

Aashayein
...the film does not ever jump out at you in a desperate attempt to tug at your heartstrings. It flows along in a nice easy arc – only, at times, too languidly for its own good.

Peepli [Live]
It has its heart in the right place, and it's a heart backed by a ticking mind.
Aug 2010

Raajneeti
...a mixed bag. The film has moments of ferocious power and just as many flaws.
Jun 2010

Kites
...the film doesn’t become more than the sum of its parts because the second half is flat and in places, outright foolish.

It's a Wonderful Afterlife
...never achieves full lift off. There are too many dull stretches. The film has the texture of a clunky television sitcom.

Housefull
There is no craft or narrative or characterisation to speak of. Random events and characters, lies and misunderstandings serve to create a low-IQ comedy.
Apr 2010

Apartment
The acting is abysmal. The production values are tacky. And the writing is laugh-out-loud funny.

City Of Gold
...had the potential to be a far better film than it is...But the director is unable to find the right narrative tone for this difficult material.
