  • Bbuddah...Hoga Terra Baap

...brazenly declares that this is a tribute to the legend and his prime years. Once you have done that, they could have gotten away with anything. They didn't necessarily need a story or characterization. But they give you that and Amitabh Bachchan unlimited.

  • Rangoon

The tiny step Bharadwaj takes towards Shakespeare is worth an applause, and a second-viewing too. Even so, the writing though has miles to go.

  • Thackeray

Is like a well-made horror film. It is well-made that is why it scares you. And of course, that it is all real-life doesn’t help.

  • Manikarnika

The makers take the strength of the original, real-life story and character for granted and entirely focus on form, rather than content. Good thing then that the brave warrior woman needs no man or depth in writing to shine.

  • War

Slick action, chiselled heroes, stunning locations make up for the uneven writing. Yep, the story is part-clever and part-amusing, making it a guilty-pleasure kind-of-a-watch.

  • Shanghai

Visually appealing because of raw, rugged ambience and characters, Shanghai ultimately ends up being yet another political drama that chooses the quick-fix, short-cut.

  • Happy Ending

An urban romcom that tries to get a grapple on love. It is charming in its own way, but ultimately ends up having very little more than a regular romedy, as it likes to call itself.

  • Kaalakaandi

If you can watch a film just for performances, this one is it. Otherwise, it is two ordinary stories that go well enough with a madcap one. The quirky situations and lines bring a few smiles.

  • Beyond The Clouds

...is as harsh as it is kind and in that sense it follows life. If only the Iranian director had avoided drama especially through some of the performances and the background score. These took a toll on the subtlety that could have been.

  • Tu Hai Mera Sunday

A cute comment on everyday, urban life. Becomes a little 'out there', every once in a while. But so does everyday life, right? While the philosophising is a tad lame, the romantic bits are adorable.

  • Ram-leela

Is an engaging first hour that takes you downhill through a stretched, predictable and melodramatic rest of the film, good enough? Just might be.

  • Mom

It is slow, it is very predictable. Yet, it is watchable. That's something, right? Mostly for its performances.

  • Mukkabaaz

Relentless, intense, relentlessly intense are all the words that come to you during interval. After that though, the film loses steam slightly because it gets a touch repetitive.

  • Kalank

A reasonably complex plot for a love triangle spoiled by shifting focus from the details in the story to reasonably well-done grandeur and opulence. Results in a play-like set-up without due regard for nuance.
