  • Gone Kesh

...I think that this story might have been better served as a short film. There isn’t enough meat here to merit a feature.  The craft also wobbles.

  • Daayen Ya Baayen

...a film made with love. Bela has a great affection for her characters. I'm recommending it with reservations. You need a lot of patience for this one.

...is an unabashed love letter to the Indian army. If you want nuance or insight into the hearts and minds of brave men and women who willingly put themselves in the line of fire, you won’t find it here.

  • Veer

If like me, you can find delight in the sheer delirium of a bad Bollywood film, then see Veer, otherwise do catch it on DVD. In a few years, this sensibility and swagger will be extinct.

  • Tanu Weds Manu

Though the director picked up an interesting subject, he has not succeeded in executing his story effectively on screen - there are not enough laughs in the film.

  • Tiger Zinda Hai

...is flat out exhausting. The story is much too long and convoluted. The frame is filled with characters but apart from Tiger, none of them make an impact. And for me, the weakest link is that there is nothing that moors you emotionally.

Clearly Rensil is a talent to watch. He isn’t afraid to take risks but his ambition and good intentions aren’t matched by the sophistication that this project required.

  • Hichki

...is a genuinely earnest film made with heart. But it doesn’t take enough risks and consequently doesn’t touch a raw nerve in the way that Taare Zameen Par did. But it’s always nice to see a talented actress with all guns blazing.

...had the potential to be a far better film than it is...But the director is unable to find the right narrative tone for this difficult material.

  • Jawaani Jaaneman

...doesn’t become more than the sum of its parts. I’m a big admirer of Nitin’s first film Filmistaan, in which he combined humor, pathos and depth with a skillful lightness. I wish Jawaani Jaaneman had delivered more.

  • Shagird

Nana Patekar fans will enjoy his purposefully eccentric, casually ruthless cop but honestly, it felt like deja vu to me.

  • B.A. Pass

...holds your interest as long as Bahl sticks to Sikka’s darkly twisted story. But each time he diverges — including his choice of the film’s cheesy name (Sikka’s story is titled The Railway Aunty) — the narrative wobbles.

  • Madaari

...is a testament to the talent of Irrfan – the Khan has been dropped. This predictable, inconsistent and implausible story would have collapsed completely with a lesser actor.

  • Striker

...is the kind of film that fills you with regret. There is skilful direction here, some nicely etched moments and commendable performances and yet the film never gathers enough momentum to make an impact. Striker never becomes the film it could have been.
