  • Andhadhun

An absolutely absorbing first half written, performed and executed so well that the slightly convoluted and stretched second half cannot mar the experience.

“You want real acting from me? Here! Take that! And some more!” an emphatic announcement by Shah Rukh Khan in a not-bad thriller.

  • Sanju

An engaging 2.5+ hours with a film that might as well have been titled Sanju ke baba or anti-medianama. Enjoyed it better by not thinking of him as Sanjay Dutt but more as a shameless, callous, blame-shifter manbaby.

...starts unsurely, mildly irritates while casually displaying a wasted life amidst drugs, alcohol and sex and then grips you into a story that makes you want good things to happen to a person you didn't like much or worse, were indifferent to.

  • Highway

A warm yet emotionally violent story that sweeps you off your feet, but for a few scenes that go amiss.

  • Hindi Medium

The film uses mildly-comical satire to put its point across. However, the problem arises when writers fail to wrap it up as satire and succumb to sermonizing.

The comedy and social take work, even while the horror and romance are just about ok as a side. Put together though the genre mix gives the film a unique flavour making the smartly written script quite enjoyable.

  • Dhobi Ghat

It's different, it's sincere, it's inconclusive, it's abstract in its own way. It's intriguing and it leaves you dissatisfied.

Yet again, Rajkumar Hirani blends comedy with a social message and gets a point across. Even if the comedy doesn't work all that well, it is a film worth a watch for sure.

  • That Girl in Yellow Boots

The gritty nature of the film and the subject is not something all of us can handle for it takes guts to accept the truth about the society that we are a part of. It's an important film but not one I'd want to watch again.

  • Badmaash Company

It's everything that's fun about a conjob - the core idea, the wool-over-the-eyes, the joke at the victim's expense. Everyone gets their just desserts and surprisingly all ends well.

...is sketchy yet engaging. It is abrupt and half-baked but the performances and music alone make the film worth a watch.

  • Go Goa Gone

Much fun and gore - a combination I never thought would've worked. But owing to some witty dialogue and perfectly timed dialogue delivery make Go Goa Gonea watch well worth it.

  • Ugly

The repulsion you feel towards Ugly is what makes it a good film. A thriller that makes you uncomfortable from within.

  • Thugs Of Hindostan

It’s relevance to today’s times is striking. Interestingly, Thugs of Hindostan includes enough of the trappings to make you cringe and yet manages to keep you entertained.

  • Madaari

As an intelligent thriller, it works. As a poke to social conscience, can movies do more than poke?

...made me wonder, what makes me sadder - a film which starts off very well, but ends up being just about average or one that isn't enjoyable at all.
