  • Stree

After regaling audiences with many ideas it's a bit of a letdown to see a film venture on a all-too familiar terrain. Stree tries to give its female ghost an identity that goes beyond revenge, yet by the end she also feels nothing beyond a scream queen.

  • Bombay Velvet

Aspirations, frustrations, ambition, greed, manipulation, betrayal, struggles and rivalries abound the canvas of Bombay Velvet. But for a film with so much happening, it's amazing that little registers an impact or feels of consequence.

  • Kadvi Hawa

Despite a running time of 95 minutes, Kadvi Hawa still feels a laboured watch. Nitin Dixit's screenplay trudges along, not digging deep into what has created the harsh landscape that has made the farmer woes from bad to worse.

  • Table No. 21

Bhatt initially keeps the audience engaged with a quick pace and amusing vignettes such as a machine which measures the decibel levels of a slap. But he loses his grip in the second half, especially as the audience is able to put together the clues and predict the game’s end.

  • Sniff

The emergence of an adventurous hero and his exploits as a spy should infuse pace and energy into the proceedings but that isn't necessarily the case here.

  • Pihu

As the minutes tick Kapri's urban horror show becomes familiar. When the focus turns to unseen adult voices, the script's weaknesses are apparent.

  • Raid

Even as Raid raises pertinent questions on lionising immoral heroes and ignoring the ones who actually do the right thing, it lacks vision and wastes the opportunity to dive deep into this discrepancy.

  • Maximum

Somewhere in the 90 minutes is a story that tells us nothing new or fascinating about the nexus between the cops and the underworld.

  • Gold

...Gold's increasing tendency to take a simplistic and contrived approach to history to create thrill doesn't work.

  • Beyond The Clouds

...is well-meaning in its message of compassion in a harsh world but it is one thing to tug at the heartstrings and another to become a sappy Bollywood drama while doing so.

  • Simran

...the film struggles with the continuity of a mood or tone. The comedy approach here doesn't pay dividends, with many of the punchlines missing the mark and most having been exhausted in the trailer itself.

  • Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi

The movie could have risen to become a nuanced drama about a couple in their forties, struggling to balance between their familial responsibilities and matters of heart. Instead we get a hokey love story that never quite beguiles or tickles.

  • Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!

...Banerjee's story which while it is ambitious on scale falls short on pace and thrill. Banerjee gets a tad too indulgent with the technical crafts. It comes at the cost of a lack of engaging tug-of-war between Bakshy and his nemesis...

  • Gulaab Gang

It doesn't take long to realise that Gulaab Gang has adopted a familiar route. A wrong is committed. There's the search for justice. It is achieved with fierce fighting. And then there's a song to celebrate the good times.

  • Pyaar Ka Punchnama

Director and writer Luv Ranjan seems to have a string of bad breakups. Only that can explain why the villains in his debut movie are the girlfriends – who are difficult, demanding, unfathomable and annoying.
