  • Mulk

The film has its heart in the right place. But Sinha's overexcitement to put forth his message gets the better of him. The courtroom drama tends to get a little too theatrical, but without any discernible damage.

  • Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3

The Saheb Biwi aur Gangster movies have thrived on the combination of sex, power, lies and backstabbing but this time around Dhulia is low on ideas, humour and most importantly a compelling narrative.

  • Soorma

The film falls supremely short of harnessing dramatic potential and is just another hackneyed run-of-the-mill biopic. A champion is turned into a colourless Bollywood hero.

  • Sanju

Given the kind of biopics we have seen in commercial mainstream Bollywood so far, Sanju has definitely raised the bar. Watch Sanju for Ranbir Kapoor, Rajkumar Hirani, the laughs, the tears... in a nutshell, everything.

  • Race 3

There are full-fledged military wars in Cambodia because nothing less than a war can do justice to Salman's calibre. There is Salman Khan flying over Al Shifah because helicopters are so passe. There is Bhai launching bazookas because why undermine him with lesser weapons like AK-47. There are five extra actors in the film to support Salman because he needs to outshine all of them. Nothing is measured in Race 3. You ask for a shot of Salman, you're given a gallon of him. Deal with it however you want.

  • Veere Di Wedding

The good part - Veere Di Wedding isn't as frivolous as Rhea Kapoor's other productions like Aisha and Khoobsurat. It does break a few stereotypes with its story-telling. It's a film that you cannot completely dismiss for being too bold, too outrageous or too offensive.

  • Bhavesh Joshi Superhero

...is an attempt to propel the individual out of apathy, and asks us to channelise our anger in the right direction. It doesn't succeed entirely, but Motwane's fresh take on the wearied superhero genre is worth a watch.

  • Parmanu

If you can get through two hours of clichéd dialogues, occasional deadpan textbook dialogues from John Abraham and much desh-bhakti, there is an interesting climax as a reward waiting for you, at the end.

  • Hope Aur Hum

...barring a few amusing moments where the characters come alive, Bandyopadhyay struggles to maintain the feel-good temperament or make his characters endearing. Hope aur Hum ultimately lacks purpose.

  • Raazi

She (Alia Bhatt) is present in almost every scene post her character's introduction and she shines throughout even when the film stutters near the end.

  • 102 Not Out

...if you are game for a family drama with a message, 102 Not Out is a film for you. Because 102 Not Out has its heart in the right place, if not many other things.

  • Daas Dev

Impoverished, rebellious farmers, greedy businessmen and corrupt and manipulative politicians and their goons are some of the many issues that Mishra skims through with little thought.

  • Beyond The Clouds

...is well-meaning in its message of compassion in a harsh world but it is one thing to tug at the heartstrings and another to become a sappy Bollywood drama while doing so.

  • Hichki

Rani Mukerji is delightful as the enthusiastic teacher with a never-say-die spirit. Hichki rests on her shoulders and she does not let it falter.

  • Raid

Even as Raid raises pertinent questions on lionising immoral heroes and ignoring the ones who actually do the right thing, it lacks vision and wastes the opportunity to dive deep into this discrepancy.

  • Aiyaary

Pandey has a know-it-all approach to the world of armed forces only he is not able to bring it alive for cinema. Also missing is the humour that he is able to effortlessly intersperse in between moments of high drama.

  • Padmaavat

...this film will not go down in history as one of the best Indian films but it could turn out to be the biggest hit of all time, bigger than Dangal and with some luck Padmaavat could challenge Baahubali's record at the domestic box office.
