  • Fukrey Returns

A screenplay that appears promising in the first half is interrupted by far too many twists, which do little to lift the film. In fact, in an attempt to verbalise every development, the humour runs thin from the onset of the second half.

  • Firangi

Sharma, who is among the most talented comedians, should stick to tickling the funny bone. Even with an earnest attempt, he fails to deliver.

  • Kadvi Hawa

But beyond the obvious sell that combines well with original intent, this is, on the face of it, a uniformly dark, grim, thoroughly meditative film on farmers' suicides...

  • Ajji

Makhija pitches his film as a dark-twisted take on The Little Red Riding Hood. We're certain you won't revisit the fairytale with enthusiasm after this.

  • Tumhari Sulu

This film, where Vidya shows up as a vivacious, fat Virar aunty, embodying all the compassions and contradictions within a modern desi woman, is not an exception, by any means. It is really as good as it gets.

  • Qarib Qarib Singlle

This is the sort of script that world champions of the desi rom-com genre would've taken to an altogether level. To be fair, director Tanuja Chandra (in fine form) makes it more than a 'qarib qarib' lovely, and surely worth your while in the theatre.

  • Ittefaq

I also don’t remember the last time I watched a full-on, no-nonsense, whodunit Hindi mainstream murder mystery in a theatre, with no way to talk about it but to urge you to see it, because that’s the only way we can discuss it any further.

  • Simran

...there's more reason to celebrate Simran than diss it. The quirky perspective at finding laughs in troubled times is a refreshing way of viewing problems. And then there's Kangana, making badass look simple, human and so full of heart.

  • Poster Boys

The problem, however, lies in the second half. The drama runs thin as the film starts to drag. Jokes become repetitive and silly, and the climax is poorly executed.

  • Daddy

It can't exactly be termed as Gawli's biopic, because so much of his life is missing from the film. Nor can one say that it is entertaining as it offers nothing new.

  • Baadshaho

It is a case of how a good ol' masala entertainer, which otherwise could have been an enjoyable affair thanks to its action sequences and some seeti maar dialogues, has gone wrong - once again, reiterating the importance of sharp writing in a thriller.

  • A Gentleman

I miss the Raj & DK of Go, Goa, Gone, and their films where gags come flying your way fast and quick. There was a threadbare plot in that one too, but at least it was clever. This is just a snoozefest, all the way.

  • Toilet

Don't look for subtlety in the storytelling in 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' and you will come away a happy viewer with some relevant thoughts on how non-metropolitan India exists without caving into a depression.

  • Indu Sarkar

While high on obvious propaganda, low on aesthetics, where Bhandarkar does well is to show the deep disdain the Indian state has for activists, its excessive censorship, the complete lack of an opposition in politics, and a relentless public campaign through events to suggest all's well, when it’s really not.

  • Raag Desh

If this film feels slightly exhausting, even if exhilarating in parts, then that's because it is rather exhaustive in its exposition of facts. History fiends should jump at it right away.
