  • Peepli [Live]

...an entertaining, original and relevant film, which tackles a serious problem with just the right touch of satire and humour. This is a slice of real cinema, raunchy, rancid and rare, and may we get more of the same please.

  • Khatta Meetha

It is stuffed with gags, set-ups and stock characters, in a silly, stunted, scattered script which is stitched up rather poorly. The film desperately tries to be funny but just ends up being very tedious.

  • Udaan

...is real and sharp, the story telling brisk despite the silences, the nuanced music fits in well, and the debutant director displays a sure, deft hand.

  • Tere Bin Laden

...a delightful little gem of a film, based on an unbelievable premise, but treated with just the right mix of straight-faced gravity and furiously oddball humour.

  • Red Alert

Though the base material remains gripping, Red Alert is a bit slow in patches, with the complex Naxal issue getting a slightly filmy treatment.

  • Kites

...suffers from trying to cater to a diverse audience, Indian and international, which is the latest fad amongst the big boys of Bollywood. It’s a bit like eating makke ki roti with salsa, which may be novel, but is definitely not tasty.

  • Phoonk 2

...Ramu, do you actually believe today's young audience, fed on a veritable Hollywood scarefest diet, would be scared by swings that, well, swing in the dead of night on their own or cupboard and doors that creak open or for that matter lights that switch on of their own volition? Even the half century old Mahal, Bees Saal Baad or Kohraa went beyond this.

  • Paathshaala

...a film which deals with the rampant commercialisation of education, clearly a good subject, except that it is poorly written and directed, without imagination or flair.

  • Prince

...a mindless mishmash of various superhero and caper films mixed with a Don like amnesia track and Bond inspired action sequences, all served up Bollywood style.

  • Hum Tum Aur Ghost

An actor is only as good as his director is an old adage, while a movie is only as entertaining as its story. Both these maxims are proved fully true in Hum, Tum aur Ghost...

  • Lahore

...doesn’t offer any fresh nuances in our troubled cross border relationships, and as a film it remains a decent watch.

  • Hello Zindagi

...a terrible film, not worthy of anyone’s time or money. The storytelling is inconsistent and ludicrous, the performances range from ordinary to bad, while any sort of direction is painfully missing.
