  • Angrezi Medium

If only director Homi Adajania would have trusted his material and not underlined and spelt out everything, this could’ve been a sharper and perhaps, more introspective watch.

  • Andhadhun

The trouble with a compelling build-up is that it’s accompanied by unrealistic expectations — which when unmet, can lead to disappointment. Here, it almost seems as if the filmmaker decided to adopt the film’s title as his approach to stitch this one together.

  • Amit Sahni Ki List

...I see a fairly bright future for the director. He just about manages to make the most out of a soulless protagonist, half-line story and a one-line screenplay. But then again, which contemporary comedy ever promises to be more?

  • Amavas

...each and every scene — from approaching a door with dread to bending over to reveal a dark apparition standing right behind, has been borrowed from some film or the other. That the makeup and prosthetics here seem dated and sourced from a Halloween party store also dilutes the overall effect.

  • All Is Well

...fails on every count: in telling a story that demands undivided attention, crafting memorable characters or earning a laugh in a film that is supposedly a comedy.

  • Aksar 2

...for those looking for a suspense-thriller, the twists and turns here seem more unnecessary than unexpected and the predictably painful expressions inevitably culminate in a headache.

  • AkaashVani

...where you’d expect writer and director Luv Ranjan to turn the genre on its head and push the envelope further, he lands an ordinary film that is perhaps a little too conventional.

  • Ajji

Evolving from shorts to full-length, director Devashish Makhija makes a remarkable debut. Having delivered in a format where every frame must offer something novel to justify its presence, Makhija manages to keep affairs crisp, pointedly aggressive and consequently, effective.

  • Aiyaary

It’s difficult to imagine that the maker of films such as A Wednesday!, Special 26 and Baby, Pandey would resort to such a pretentious thriller.

  • Airlift

...director Raja Krishna Menon takes on this challenge of turning a story known to all into a compelling watch and pens a nail-biting plot that will keep you fearful, hopeful and yet, unsure and uncomfortable.

  • Agneepath

Agneepath is a tribute to a time when Hindi movies were escapist epic fantasies. And a time when they were also not very good. Depends on how you look at it.

  • Agent Vinod

Despite Raghavan's mastery in certain moments, the script – undoubtedly mangled on the edit table – leaves the film like a rudderless boat in open waters: floundering for direction. Watch it for the ride, but don't expect to be rattled.

  • Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

Extending the boundaries of his pet theme of love and friendship, Johar attempts to be Imtiaz Ali here. But in this regard, he fails miserably in drafting his character's journey.

  • Action Jackson

There's suspension of disbelief, and there's Action Jackson—where suspension climbs to the top of Everest, moonwalks and floats into the stratosphere strapped with eardrum-shattering jetpacks. Not usually my cuppa, but perhaps this one time, it is. With a shot of rum.

  • ABCD - Any Body Can Dance - 2

...the film is little more than a string of elaborately choreographed music videos woven together. The frail story that lingers between the multiple steroid-infused dance numbers builds on every cliche in the textbook.
