  • Mukkabaaz

My worry is that many who are not fond of Kashyap's usual complex sensibility would like this latest move: They'll applaud the fact that he's going for the tear glands with brass knuckles on.

The tragedy of Mukkabaaz is not that it aims low; the tragedy is that it aims low and hits.

  • Bal Hanuman 2

Despite obvious snags, Hanuman is an endearing character and kids will love him. It's a must watch particularly for those who've survived on a diet of Superman and Spiderman so far.

  • Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!

...for all its stylishness and period grandeur it is not as intelligent a film as it yearns to be, the plot isn’t cunning enough and the conveniently-unravelled puzzle never quite sucks the viewer in.

  • 102 Not Out

Every single gesture is overdone and extra boisterous like Bachchan's inflated exuberance and screaming prosthetics, reminiscent of the 1970s when he'd masquerade as a grey-haired old man playing to the gallery. It was phony, but so much fun.

  • The Body

The film starts well with a fantastic post-interval twist, but it meanders for the most part. A thriller needs to be edgy or it will lose its grip and that holds true for The Body.

  • Bodyguard

...while Dabangg offered a precise volume of coolness and chutzpah, Ready went overboard with the shtick. Bodyguard, meanwhile, is on the underwhelming side.

  • The Japanese Wife

There is enough to dwell on and smile at, but this Wife is an insipid woman, one with bright eyes and a pretty smile and not nearly enough to actually say. She's refreshingly pleasant, but a large part of sitting down to tea with her will involve looking at your watch and pretending to be interested.

  • Talaash

Someone asked me if Talaash was a watchable film, and indeed it is. It's better put together than a lot of the films we see here, and definitely strongly acted, but ends up so, so much less enjoyable than it deserved to be.

  • Raja Natwarlal

...far too unchallenging to its protagonists and too convenient to its writers -- doesn’t aim or offer greatness but certainly throws up a movie more watchable than most of the things crowding your local multiplex.

  • Raman Raghav 2.0

There is real good cinema in that scene towards the end of the film, and also a reminder that Kashyap has a lot of talent. He just needs to stop making films that are very similar.

  • Romeo Akbar Walter

Despite having a decent storyline, Director Robbie Grewal isn't able to get us on the edge-of-our-seats with this thriller. The movie appears 'raw' at many instances and one only wishes that it was cooked better.

  • Dhobi Ghat

...a middling debut, watchable due to its nuances but simply not interesting enough to recommend. Yet Rao seems assured of her craft, and worth looking out for in the future.

  • Agent Vinod

...as a game it'd be sensational, and tremendous fun. As a film, on the other hand, Agent Vinod must be termed a disappointment, a slick and well-produced throwback to the spy thriller that feels both overlong and under-conceived.

  • Ki & Ka

This is a recurring problem in Balki’s filmmaking. Certainly, he comes up with the most unique ideas, infuses them with a whimsical energy but in his eagerness to impress, he loses all subtlety.
