  • Bareilly Ki Barfi

The mediocre music and song-n-dance routines bring in the typical filmi touch to the film trying hard to fight it but still wanting to remain within it. Although a likeable film, BKB is one that could have but doesn’t quite fly.

  • Bajatey Raho

...is like that song on the radio that you have heard a few times before but don't mind only because it’s better than the songs playing on other stations.

  • Highway

He has not reached the destination but Imtiaz makes a brave attempt to extricate himself from the sanitised Highway of Bollywood.

  • Agent Vinod

While the basics make sure that Agent Vinod is way better than run-of-the-mill Bollywood, our standards for Sriram Raghavan are sky high. This is a disappointment only because we expect a lot more from the guy who takes his time and dedicates himself completely to films.

  • Bajirao Mastani

Sanjay Leela Bhansali returns with another visual spectacle that wilfully takes liberties with the past that it depicts. But it does manage to engage even as it exhausts.

  • Cocktail

...once you are done with gushing about the picturesque locales, the hollowness of the subject dawns on you and it is not a good feeling. All the gloss and sauce fail to make us feel for any of the characters because their transitions don’t pass muster.

It is a pretty decent translation that will work for fans of the book and those who haven’t read it but given the potential of the material, it falls a little short.

  • Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi

If you have a taste for such supreme silliness (honest confession, at times my balmy head certainly does) then you’ll be be smiling, if not laughing out loud. The problem is the lack of consistency, with the sharp lines and quick wit often lapsing into the puerile.

  • Panipat

Gowariker may have taken liberties with history, but doesn’t play around with the form. He sticks to the tried and tested, the long and langourous and old-fashioned. However, he is unable to achieve the epic sweep despite the declamatory dialogue, opulent costumes and the big song-n-dance set-pieces.

  • Raag Desh

...the tension, excitement and exhilaration in a story so potent is diluted by a choppy narrative that is reminiscent of a soporific history class.

  • Khandaani Shafakhana

...may have a laudable message at its core, but gets bogged down by it’s own overly righteous attempt to “educate” — that sex is not gandi baat, ashleel aur aapattijanak (bad thing, obscene and unacceptable), nothing to be shameful about.

  • Malang

The film is unintentionally funny at points, mildly clever in its second-half and there is a hint of pertinent discussion about encounters and justice within the system but all that is eclipsed by the multitude inane reasoning in the film, that gives you neither sukoon nor mazaa.
