  • For Real

This is the sort of self-produced, independent, low-budget, boutique film that you go to niche film festivals for. They serve as fair audition tapes for better things to come. Hopefully.

  • Bhavesh Joshi Superhero

...with some cracker locations and fine camera work otherwise, is anything to go by, you can tell, the chops to recreate a Frank Miller type visual flipbook exist. Except the non-superhero on the screen, like the movie itself, merely moves around in convenient circles, and head-splitting clichés.

  • Pyaar Ka Punchnama

The screenplay, an excellent effort at genuine Indian dick-lit writing, still rings true, in several parts. The solid material isn't however contained enough to make for a tight film.

  • Kurbaan

What you may brave through then is a flick neither real or serious enough to be a meditation on global terror, nor sweetly suspended and adequately brain-dead to be Die Hard. It’s hard to be both. The hardship shows.

  • Naam Shabana

The filmmakers go back to explore Shabana's back-story. What is it that you might want to know about her? Precious little, by the looks of it.

  • Laal Kaptaan

...there are way too many scenes to the point that it begins to feel like a stretch, and you merely hope for the movie to get to the point.

  • Toonpur Ka Superrhero

The superstar wants to impress his kids. The film wants to impress yours. The human hero fights the cartoon villain as he moves up levels in a video game. It’s all pretty lame. The connect is somewhere lost.

  • Soundtrack

You can still tell a bunch of Bandroids trying hard. Something genuine, off-centre, Indian, original, and cutting image, will eventually emerge from efforts like these. Until then, I guess, we should just bear with these.

  • The Japanese Wife

...is wonderfully shot, reasonably well enacted, and is sure enough, long (or slow) as hell. Such elements individually draw attention toward themselves because, quite frankly, the script sucks.

  • India‘s Most Wanted

Frankly, nothing really happens for you to care enough. And the movie at two hours plus simply appears an hour too long. Ah! Felt like an empty shell -- well, to me, anyway.

  • Saand Ki Aankh

There's something so desperately missing in the general rhythm and tone of this film that beyond a point, not just the audience, even the filmmakers seem unable to decide on whether this is a high-octane melodrama, set to appease junta-class.

  • Rann

This is neither an expose nor an explanation. It’s just an exercise in corniness, not very different from the subject of its scrutiny.
