  • Jawaani Jaaneman

It is funny, but not enough. It is a good one-line plot but stays just about that. It tries very hard to tug at your heart but eventually is a collection of carefully laid out tropes.

You can see the sincere effort in trying to keep us interested in the events. Unfortunately, the effort is not successful because of this irrepressible urge to be stylish and muck around with the timeline in the narrative.

  • Not A Love Story

Superlative performances hook you into a disgusting story that comes from newspapers despite RGV going even crazier with his camera and sound departments.

...is a little more than what you'd expect. A tiny surprise that gives you more of the same, but with some structure - even if it tries do a lot in one go and all of it is predictable.

  • Shamitabh

A tribute to a baritone, Shamitabh serves well for the voice's fans. Unfortunately, stretches imagination and its length a tad much making it repetitive and tiring.

The makers choose a slice of their hostel lives as a thread to ~~sermonise~~ tell the kids who take failure too hard to take it easy. The nostalgic tone works, but the build-up to the “lesson” part is overdone.

  • Loot

Loot is confused between being a regular, loud slapstick and being one of those several threads converge to make a "cool" pulp kind-of a film.

  • Zid

A whodunnit that goes about in so many circles that you stop wondering about who did it.

...is so silly you HAVE to laugh. But that is only if you HAVE to watch it in the first place. And I don't see why anyone would want to do that.

A romantic rumination trying to be sold as a thriller it is not. Interesting but not enough. Lots of philosophy but towards no tangible direction.

...gets predictably preachy. No surprises there. It fails to teach in an interesting way despite being in the capable hands of Shabana Azmi, Juhi Chawla and Divya Dutta.

I don't know about bravery and courage, but I recognize the attempt in making an epic entertainer and I see partial success. Unfortunately, only partial. And yet, Salmaniacs can rejoice!

  • Miley Naa Miley Hum

Miley Naa Miley Hum ends up being a bland family drama about parents burdening their children with aspirations they have for themselves. It could have been so much better. Oh well...

...feels like a film that could've been a film worth watching once if it had a little better of everything, especially better actors to play the side characters and the villain.

  • Ek Villain

A revenge saga that works so hard in trying to make you feel for the characters that it fails and you are left gaping at the screen in bewilderment for over two hours.

  • City Of Gold

Sure, the concept is nice. But, the nice stuff stops there. It's just the loud and annoying way in which things play out that gets on your nerves after about an hour. And there is another 1.5 hours to go.

  • A Flying Jatt

A preachy school play that could have meant more. A film that will get “well-intended, heart in the right place” nominations.

  • Satyameva Jayate

Heavy dialogue-heavy film. But you knew that from the trailer. Ordinary fight sequences make the film quite the regular action fare. The story isn’t as engaging as the premise might seem.
