  • Super 30

Mathematics whiz and educator Anand Kumar has led a remarkable life, coaching hundreds of underprivileged children past the rigours of the Indian Institute of Technology entrance exams. His story deserves attention, but director Vikas Bahl confoundingly embellishes it into typical filmi fare in Super 30.

  • Sui Dhaaga

...is a feel-good film about dignity of labour, and the honest toil of a hard-working tailor. Too bad it feels machine-made.

  • Stree

The laughs are inconsistent, and the plotting feels sloppy and rushed. The ideas are fine, but the writing needed work.

You can still tell a bunch of Bandroids trying hard. Something genuine, off-centre, Indian, original, and cutting image, will eventually emerge from efforts like these. Until then, I guess, we should just bear with these.

  • Soorma

...doesn’t attempt to probe beyond the obvious, even if you don’t know the real story. With 131-minute duration, Soorma presents Sandeep as the ultimate boy scout. A tinge of reality wouldn’t have hurt.

  • Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety

The one thing that worked for Pyaar Ka Punchnama films was the relatability, even if it was restricted to guys-only discussions. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety doesn’t have that, nor is it funny.

  • Sonali Cable

It is labourious to sit through the 127 minute-long film, and soon you are left wondering if director-writer Acharya bit off far more than what he could chew with this one.

  • Singham

Devgn walks to beats similar to Salman's Dabanng. He beats the crap out of ruffians outside a village theatre. He restores his woman's honour. Besotted, she chases him. Audiences think even more highly of the hero. He beats the crap some more.

...all of it seems so self-indulgent that neither the film nor the protagonist is successful in making the audience empathise or identify with her.

  • Shubh Mangal Saavdhan

Prasanna presents Shubh Mangal Saavdhan in a rather flat manner and refuses to give space to characters other than the hero and heroine, leaving behind one mess of what could have been a fun-filled entertainer.

  • Shorgul

If you aren’t familiar with what happened in 2013, or were looking for a new perspective on the incident, Shorgul isn’t for you. The movie is a disappointment.

  • Shikara

...touches your heart while making you smile and cry at the same time. Chopra does justice to his direction though a much hard-hitting narrative is what one continues to wait for.
