  • AkaashVani

...where you’d expect writer and director Luv Ranjan to turn the genre on its head and push the envelope further, he lands an ordinary film that is perhaps a little too conventional.

  • Inkaar

It’s fantastic to see a director who finds himself at ease working out of his comfort zone, challenging himself and transitioning between diverse subjects.

  • Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola

Fun for cineastes, lost on the public. However, the intersection of Bhardwaj’s extravagance, a business end catering to a perceived public palate, and the ineffective delivery of a social message is off centre and misses the bulls eye.

  • Table No. 21

Concept-driven maybe, but Table No. 21 remains, at the end, only that - a good concept on paper that is never quite realised in its execution: whether it is in the writing, directing, or acting departments.

...aren’t we tired of watching the same film in its various avatar over and over again? It’s the same gimmicky action sequences, same item numbers, with the same actors telling us the same unoriginal story.

I felt it is the least cheesy movie in the cheesy category this year because it had moments of self-deprecating humour, and the women here are treated nicely. Let’s hope it doesn’t cost them.

  • Talaash

if you’re going to watch Talaash solely to understand “what’s the suspense about” you’re going to be disappointed. Try and empathise instead with the characters. Reward then, will look for and find you.

  • Jab Tak Hai Jaan

...may not be his finest, but even here we are treated to his willingness to tinker and update his own previous work and beliefs in the telling of his concluding romance.

  • Rush

Maybe it'd have worked four years ago but even the big resolution is old hat. Unless you're a die-hard Hashmi fan (how many millions again?), there's no rush to see this.

  • Delhi Safari

Even though the target audience is kids, Advani doesn't talk down to them. This is one of those rare instances of a children's film - animated or not - that respects its audience.

  • Chittagong

...is an unpretentious - albeit studious - effort to document an important event in our history, one that otherwise may not have been told. For that alone it merits a watch.

  • Barfi!

It is funny without being irreverent, charming without being superficial, and when the time comes, incredibly moving without being melodramatic.

  • Raaz 3

There's certainly an audience out there, given that this is the third film in a franchisee. But I have a feeling that it's sinking rapidly.

  • Joker

That it has not been promoted as a children's movie is confounding because surely the producers did not mean for it to be seen and enjoyed by thinking adults.
