Toilet
I must repeat that it’s refreshing to see Hindi cinema tackle such challenging subjects. But a film has to work as a film. This one does, in fits and starts.

Toh Baat Pakki
...feels like eating left-overs that have been reheated too many times. It’s not very appetizing.

Tiger Zinda Hai
...is flat out exhausting. The story is much too long and convoluted. The frame is filled with characters but apart from Tiger, none of them make an impact. And for me, the weakest link is that there is nothing that moors you emotionally.

The Sky Is Pink
...is sincere and heartfelt but it never gets raw or messy. Until that final stretch, it doesn’t pierce your heart the way this subject should.

The Shaukeens
The Shaukeens improves substantially in the second half when it becomes more about Akshay and less about the buddies.

The Lunchbox
...my favourite love story of the year. It’s sweet, sad and deeply aching.

The Japanese Wife
...is an acquired taste. But if you’re the type of viewer who is willing to sacrifice pacing for poignance, I recommend you go for it.

The Attacks Of 26/11
...a powerful subject watered down by ineffective story-telling. This could have and should have been so much more.

The Accidental Prime Minister
...strategically, a smart move. But here’s what I don’t get – why create such a shoddy product? The Accidental Prime Minister is narratively incoherent, technically sloppy and flat-out tedious.

Thappad
This film compels us to question our complicity. Which is the first step to change. I strongly recommend that you see Thappad.

Tezz
Even if you can get past the foolishness of this premise, Tezz has little to offer.

Tees Maar Khan
In Tees Maar Khan, everyone is overacting as though life depends on it. There is a lot of screaming, grimacing and heaving.

Teen Thay Bhai
...a film so bewildering and tonally inconsistent that as you watch, you can only wonder: what were these people smoking?
Apr 2011

Teen Patti
...is a train-wreck of a movie. It's incoherent, lengthy and worst of all, agonisingly pretentious.

TE3N
These three are among the best actors currently working in Hindi cinema. But despite their presence, TE3N doesn’t soar.

Tanu Weds Manu Returns
The strong writing is complimented by equally strong performances.

Tanu Weds Manu
Though the director picked up an interesting subject, he has not succeeded in executing his story effectively on screen - there are not enough laughs in the film.

Tanhaji
...there is no room here for nuance or arcs. Actors play outsized, one-note characters. The Marathas, with a few exceptions, are valiant, noble warriors who sacrifice their lives for their motherland. The Mughals are largely avaricious usurpers who demand ‘jaat’ and ‘jaan’.

Tamasha
Imtiaz is a fabulously talented director but eventually it proves to be too much messaging for one film

Talaash
To watch Talaash is to embark on a passionate love affair that ends in frustration because the object of your desire reveals itself to be shallow and depressingly ordinary. In short, a profound anti-climax.

Table No. 21
...director Aditya Datt creates a reality game show-revenge saga that gathers some steam in the last act, but by then it’s too little, too late.

Super 30
What trips up the film is the high-pitch and the shaky tonality. Vikas and writer Sanjeev Dutta narrate in black and white.
