  • Mere Brother Ki Dulhan

The film doesn't always work because it relies too heavily on silly stereotypes and cliches, and because you can see exactly where it's going from the moment you settle into your seat.

  • Mausam

As you leave the hall exhausted from the sheer length of this misguided enterprise, you cannot help but note that despite its many flaws, this is a noble failure. The film doesn't work, but not for lack of trying.

  • Masaan

There are multiple layers to this well-observed drama; kudos to the filmmakers for putting it on screen.

  • Marjaavaan

I came away from Marjaavaan bored and exhausted. It’s literally a film with no perceivable merit, and one that begs two key questions: How did this film get made? And why are we being taken for a ride?

  • Margarita With A Straw

Powered by a staggering performance from Kalki Koechlin as a 19-year-old with cerebral palsy, Margarita with a Straw is that rare Indian film that mostly eschews melodrama to give us an honest, sensitive portrait of disability, and the sexual awakening of an Indian teenager.

  • Manmarziyaan

...may not be perfect but it gets some things perfectly right. I left the theatre in appreciation of the sheer craft on display.

  • Malang

There is both a love story and some good songs in his new thriller Malang. There are also, to be fair, some interesting ideas floating around. But those ideas never come together coherently; they’re lost in a film that is more interested in surface-level stuff.

  • Main Tera Hero

...is a series of forced contrivances. The humor feels labored and manufactured, never arising spontaneously from the situations. It's a shame because you'd think Dhawan Sr would know exactly how to make these tropes work.

  • Madras Cafe

Solidly directed by Sircar, who steers clear of typical Bollywood machismo and avoids oversimplifying characters or their motives, the film - at a little over two hours - is a compelling watch.

  • Madaari

Arguably one of the finest actors of our times, Irrfan Khan deserves films worthy of his talent. This one comes up short.

  • M.S. Dhoni

...the film is overlong and far from perfect. But climaxing with Dhoni’s incredible performance in the 2011 World Cup, Pandey pushes all the right buttons and leaves you, your chest swelling with pride.

  • Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana

...a warm and fuzzy comedy that benefits from the insider's eye that the director casts on this garrulous community, and their love of food and family. At 2 hours and 15 minutes, the film feels bloated and over-long, but stay with it and you won't regret it.

  • Luv Ka The End

Like its very protagonists, this is a vapid, vacuous film that seems intended for similarly shallow youngsters who're still amused by such tired comic devices as itching powder and laxatives.

  • Lucknow Central

It’s all by-the-numbers storytelling, particularly the big escape plan and the way it unfolds. There is literally no surprise, no unpredictability in how things go down.

  • LoveYatri

The blame for LoveYatri rests not with these young actors, but with its makers for setting them up to fail. Frankly even Salman Khan would have trouble making this script work today.

  • Love Sex Aur Dhokha

You will be shocked, you will be startled, but walking out of the theatre, you know you have just seen what is possibly the most important Hindi film since Satya and Dil Chahta Hai.

  • Love Aaj Kal

...is pretty awful and dreadfully boring. It’s also overlong and hammy. The pursuit of romantic fulfilment has seldom felt so banal.
