  • Highway

Writer-director Ali tries giving a deeper subtext to the kidnap drama through Veera. The abduction aftermath has a life-altering impact on the girl. The subtext doesn't work because it cuts down the film's pace as it unfolds and confuses the viewer.

  • Badrinath Ki Dulhania

If you're just looking to have a good laugh and enjoy small-town humour, Badrinath Ki Dulhania will not disappoint. But if you're looking for food for thought, the film might just not live up to your expectations.

  • Daddy

Watch this gangster drama for Arjun Rampal's heartfelt performance. He breathes as Arun Gawli in Daddy. But don't go into the theatre expecting to learn anything eye-opening about the Mumbai underworld. You will come back disappointed.

  • Parmanu

If you can get through two hours of clichéd dialogues, occasional deadpan textbook dialogues from John Abraham and much desh-bhakti, there is an interesting climax as a reward waiting for you, at the end.

  • Bajatey Raho

This film looks cliched when it tries to be funny, jaded when it sets out to thrill (the second half, where suspense mattered, simply falls flat), and goes all soppy with emotions.

  • Mahabharat

Nobody really expected Mahabharat to offer anything close to Hollywood standard but when you have worked on a film for seven years like how the makers of Mahabharat claim, at least ensure you can tell a story engagingly.

  • Mr. X

The story is very predictable, but there aren't really those moments when you feel why the film doesn't end. Two for the film, and a half extra for Hashmi. Watch it for Emraan Hashmi...baaki ki chinta chhodo.

  • Pataakha

Bhardwaj though doesn't delve too deep into making them agents of change, more inclined to return to the shenanigans that provides the laughs. Pataakha further succumbs to taking a clichéd route to create drama and conflict, one more befitting in soap operas.

  • Veere Di Wedding

The good part - Veere Di Wedding isn't as frivolous as Rhea Kapoor's other productions like Aisha and Khoobsurat. It does break a few stereotypes with its story-telling. It's a film that you cannot completely dismiss for being too bold, too outrageous or too offensive.

  • Chakravyuh

...the film is a victim of poor writing and loose story-telling. It's a film that could have left a lasting impression but fails to live up to the hype.

  • Gold

...Gold's increasing tendency to take a simplistic and contrived approach to history to create thrill doesn't work.

  • Raabta

...the biggest obstacle in the path of Raabta is the story. The subject is nothing that has not been done in Indian cinema earlier. The way the story is treated takes a toll on your patience.

  • Bombay Velvet

Aspirations, frustrations, ambition, greed, manipulation, betrayal, struggles and rivalries abound the canvas of Bombay Velvet. But for a film with so much happening, it's amazing that little registers an impact or feels of consequence.

  • Beyond The Clouds

...is well-meaning in its message of compassion in a harsh world but it is one thing to tug at the heartstrings and another to become a sappy Bollywood drama while doing so.
