Laila Majnu
Critic reviews and ratings
-
...isn’t your typical Bollywood romance. It’s not a feel-good story with a happily-ever-after ending but is something that will shake you up emotionally for all the right reasons...
-
...is a thoughtfully written film, where the escalation of feelings appears as natural as it can, and characters stay credible even as the intensity becomes unbearable.
-
With all its intensity and passion, it's a good break from breezy romcoms and one that will stir emotions within.
-
...remains loyal to its basic essence and innocence. Sajid Ali makes a promising debut as director.
-
The gal is meh, so the magic of instant love seems to be missing. But the writing is brilliant and the lad is too. Looks like Imtiaz Ali has got his mojo back.
-
An idiosyncratic take on the legend takes a while to soar, but it’s worth the wait.
-
...puts a fresh spin on the source material.
-
...is embellished with some fine performances but it is not meant for the mainstream audience.
-
Dear Sajid and Imtiaz, from the space in your minds where that came from, why could you not have thought up a more credible, imaginative adaptation of Laila Majnu? Why?
-
There is only one true love in this film, and that is what Imtiaz Ali surely has for brother Sajid. For, no one goes from a dud called Jab Harry Met Sejal to a bigger dud like Laila Majnu but for some true brotherly love.
