Arjun Patiala
Critic reviews and ratings
-
Spoof comedies can be a tricky affair and this one is way too underwhelming to tickle your funny bone for full two hours.
-
...is a shockingly poor fare, riddled with an outdated and tragic script.
-
...it misses the mark by quite a bit, as Diljit's unassuming demeanour and charming effervescence can only take you so far.
-
In trying to send up Bollywood cliches, Arjun Patiala becomes yet another Bollywood cliche itself.
-
Spoof as a genre has rarely been tried in Hindi cinema and someone needs to crack that egg – heaven knows there is a lot waiting to be explored; Arjun Patiala, alas, isn’t that film.
-
...low-rent, tepid attempt at raising laughs.
-
In its attempt to take potshots at everybody -- from film directors, producers, reporters, cops and politicians -- Arjun Patiala quite doesn't add up to be the spoof it was meant to be.
-
With not a plausible storyline, poor jokes overflow, and even the actors are given a free rein with little effort.
-
...feels like a Punjabi film masquerading as a Bollywood one. The humour is deliberately rough and rustic and the filmmaking clunky.
-
No matter how low your bar is, Arjun Patiala won’t meet it. Making movies is hard work and I always try and look for something to recommend in each film. The only plus here is that it’s short. You’ve been warned.
