...is a feel-good and syrupy adaptation of the 1959 Russian classic Ballad of a Soldier, having less brain and more heart but the important thing is, it brings an Indian to smile and feel proud for India and the Indian army.
-
...is a pleasant watch that makes you pause and think if we are doing enough for our soldiers who put their lives at stake at the borders so that we can live safely. Did it sound preachy? Yes, but that aside, you wish it was only confined to the heroic tales of men in uniform.
-
...meanders off course a wee bit, is melodramatic and OTT at times but its heart certainly beats for Indian armed forces alright...
-
...is a fun, time-pass, film despite the not-so-perfect first half.
-
...is a well intentioned film that gets undone due to bad execution.
-
...is a well-intentioned flick but poor script and direction play spoilsport.
-
...the movie isn’t interested in teasing out the shades and complexities of Shankar’s cross-country adventure. Ballad of a Soldier celebrates the Russian spirit while allowing for doubt and sadness. Satellite Shankar is all grins and salutes...
-
This very Forrest Gump-ish intent could have been better realized if the plot had been less simplistic, and the lead actor a little more versatile.
