Dishkiyaoon
Critic reviews and ratings
-
There is enough suspense to keep you glued to your seat. But if it wasn’t for the usual dose of naach-gaana and the same old ‘mafia gimmicks’, this film could have been crisper.
-
The comic punches in Dishkiyaoon are too few and far between, plot twists make little sense and are saddled with glaring loopholes.
-
A weak story-line and amateurish direction, coupled with average performances, the film disappoints on many levels.
-
...is high on style but low on substance.
-
...promised to be a high-octane thriller with the right mix of masala, has got its ingredients right, but intention wrong.
-
...is more of a comeback vehicle for an actor than an earnest effort at making a good film.
-
This is one of those Goodfellas-type stories where a kid announces that he wants to be a gangster. But there’s no edge, no danger.
-
..misses the mark!
-
The convoluted second half makes sure the viewer is completely disconnected, with the finale twist being the only interesting aspect.
-
...is nothing but a shot in the dark which doesn't hit the target.
-
For an action thriller, the narrative pace is so languid, you can take your popcorn and pee break between the times when two bullets are fired.
-
Baweja fails to commander it and his lacklustre screen presence is not the only reason Dishkiyaoon fails to make an impact.
-
...confounds on a very basic technical level. Baweja sincerely tries, but is undone by scrambled writing that relies more on colorcoding than action or entertainment.
-
Bollywood has two types of films: the intelligent ones and those clichéd “leave-brains-at-home” ones. Dishkiyaaon is a pathbreaker. For we life-loving people, it’s the “bring a noose to the theatre” variety.
-
Who writes this kind of tripe?
-
...has nothing new to offer us beyond its very skeletal concept.
