Kya Dilli Kya Lahore
Critic reviews and ratings
-
Leaving aside the fact that it is unmistakably inspired by the Oscar winning No Man's Land, Kya Dilli Kya Lahore is an emphatic directorial debut for Vijay Raaz.
-
...very impressive.
-
The highlight of the film is definitely it's crsip editing, great acting and brilliant well thought dialogues.
-
As a director Vijay Raaz, is not in search of solutions to the age-old cross-border conflicts. There is a deliberate staginess to the proceedings, a pronounced verbosity that never gets cumbersome, because, like I said, the writing has a distinct and distinctive 'quoting' edge without getting show-offy.
-
A neat little film with large intentions. Give it a go for a rare, decent war film.
-
Without the usual trappings of filmi fanfare, this story has its heart in the right place - pure and undivided.
-
...may be a slow film but its climax will certainly touch you. Its poetic optimism will stay with you for long.
-
The idea behind Kya Dilli Kya Lahore is to once again point out the futility of war as well as highlight why human comes before being. And Vijay Raaz accomplishes that to a reasonable extent in his first filmmaking effort.
-
...the film relays its anti-war message effectively, and refreshingly, without faux patriotic propaganda.
-
...manages to leave an indelible impact with its sharp, witty, layered dialogues.
-
...had the potential to be as powerful, maybe more, because it is our story.
-
With a better script and a better storyline the film would have been able to make a better impression.
-
...feels stretched and half-baked, less of a big-screen experience and better suited to an intimate stage production.
-
A skit has been stretched to screenplay.
-
Even if it had to be a story about the partition and its aftermath, things could have been spiced up with more characters, instead of seeing just four performers in all for the duration of over 90 minutes.
