Poster Boys
Critic reviews and ratings
-
This dramedy that revolves around men who unknowingly promote 'Bina taka nasbandi operation' is a light-hearted and clever take on the population problem that plagues our nation.
-
...is a crazy, silly, screwball fun.
-
This one's tricky as it has to sensitively portray the plight of the characters while ensuring the screwball humour doesn't take away from the proceedings. On that count, the maker (Shreyas Talpade helming a film for the first time) does fairly well.
-
...manages to tickle your funny bone and also neatly embeds a social message.
-
It’s silly humour, but there’s no pretension.
-
Although, Poster Boys in Marathi was a blockbuster, the Hindi version is enjoyable in bits and pieces.
-
While the premise is wafer-thin, the frothy plot after a few minutes becomes tedious. But it is the base writing credited to Bunty Rathore and Paritosh Painter that keeps the momentum of the narrative well-greased. With puns, film referenced dialogues, fast-paced dumb repartee and farcical situations the film is a hilarious ride.
-
The problem, however, lies in the second half. The drama runs thin as the film starts to drag. Jokes become repetitive and silly, and the climax is poorly executed.
-
It’s not the freshest of films. It’s a comedy that serves up more of the same. While that’s not necessarily a bad thing, it’s also not the most exciting prospect.
-
Poster Boys's school play enthusiasm never aims above a low IQ comedy...
-
...this comedy of errors gets really funny in places, and sags in others.
-
The issue of over-population is tackled with a light hand and while the humour is anything but subtle, Poster Boys will appeal to fans of the brothers Deol looking for an inoffensive good time.
-
The audience gives up on the film by the point it starts making sense again, which is just a sign of weak filmmaking by a debutante director who lacks the technical acumen to shoulder a film with a promising premise.
-
Comedy writing is fun, but it’s also serious business. The writers of Poster Boys forgot the rule while working on the film. They clearly didn’t put in enough efforts to get the rewards.
-
Not offensive so much as infantile. And every single character is a cartoon.
-
...this sorry mess of a film doesn’t go a step beyond pure embarrassment.
