1920 – Evil Returns
Critic reviews and ratings
-
...scares and shocks in bits and spurts. The film rides on Vikram Bhatt's brand, more so after the super success of RAAZ 3, but its writing plays the spoilsport.
-
Ok so this a Vikram Bhatt horror film (who has directed it is secondary), which means all of the following – a tormented heroine, a spirit that possesses her, the romance, some mumbo-jumbo and lilting music.
-
Come on, Vikram, you can do it. I'm not asking for an ENTITY, but Indian cinema has evolved to at least give us a fright somewhere close to it.
-
Songs are entirely unnecessary appendages, the camera is uninspired, and most disappointing of all: the horror elements don't work. If anything, they're unintentionally funny.
-
...this one is massively mirth-inducing.
-
...showcases some good ‘horror’ moments in the second half, provided you sustain the tyranny of the first half.
-
...neither engages you nor scares you.
-
...yet another needless horror film. It's cold and bland.
-
Mystery of a possessed goody-good girl builds up to a lame backstory. This is only the excuse to show some disgusting kind of gory horror.
-
Vikram Bhatt’s 1920 Evil Returns just like his earlier few films ends up becoming a laugh riot instead of a spooky fest.
-
We would have forgotten and forgiven the lax pace, the hotchpotch screenplay and shoddy editing if Tia Bajpai was scary and/or sexy. That she is neither is the main flaw of the film.
-
...dull package.
