Mohenjo Daro
Critic reviews and ratings
-
...its scale and imagination make it an interesting watch - as does the intriguing notion of Hrithik as India's first pratham sevak.
-
...is far from perfect, but it’s also far more than the sum of its memes.
-
...comes across as a grand historical fictional tale which appeals only in parts. The lack of engaging and relatable drama act as spoilsport in the narrative.
-
The problem with the film is that the love story has nothing new to offer. The novelty was the backdrop but that's amateurishly presented.
-
...a choppy film that is a victim of its own ambition. If anything keeps Mohenjo Daro afloat, it’s Hrithik Roshan’s energy and enthusiasm.
-
...manages to stay afloat. This is largely part due to Roshan...
-
Watch the film if Hrithik’s physique, dancing skills and flexibility are enough to attract you but you can totally avoid it if a grandeur does not make up for the lack of substance, facts and logic.
-
With its story and characters crumbling under its cinematic ambition, the only thing that makes Mohenjo Daro a sweeping cinematic experience is its visuals.
-
It starts out to be an interesting journey, but rapidly rolls towards a disaster (literally and figuratively) to a bedraggled end.
-
Gowariker took huge liberties with the historical details of the period, understandably, in the service of a grand, commercial film that would appeal to one and all, but in the process, ended up making something that just cannot be taken seriously.
-
Gowariker puts in all the hard work and sincerity in the canvas and the mounting, in the seals and the statues but refuses to take the necessary leap of imagination to give us something fresh, something worth taking note of.
-
...is stuck in the past and not just in terms of its substance. What the film clearly says is that both director Gowariker and Hrithik need to move on and reinvent themselves.
-
The least Mohenjo Daro could have done is awe you with its scale. Well, It doesn't. Save a few action pieces the film has nothing to enamor you.
-
The film looks grand and the era he created in 2016 BCE is commendable. However, he fails in telling a story since the plot is weak.
-
...flat writing and lazy casting.
-
...neither has the depth, nor the ability to grip the viewers.
-
...the telling of the film is slow, long winded, pointless, and extraordinarily boring.
-
...the telling of the film is slow, long winded, pointless, and extraordinarily boring.
-
Historical accuracy be darned, Gowariker has served up a severely amateurish production with a weak script and an abundance of cliche.
-
Hrithik is watchable and the scale is laudable but rest is a boring circus that equally disappoints in its CGI, the longer it ran, the longer my demand to be out of this misery increased.
-
Hrithik Roshan can't rescue this film. Ashutosh Gowariker makes it bigger but not better. Pooja Hegde needs a better debut. Mohenjo Daro is a plod.
-
It breaks my heart to say this because so much talent and sweat is involved, but Mohenjo Daro is a mess.
-
...shockingly generic screenplay...
