Bank Chor
Critic reviews and ratings
-
Director Bumpy and his team of writers may not have done enough to please the classes, but their spunky little film has enough thrills and laughs to give the massy crowds value for money.
-
A better plan of action and a few dry runs with the script would have ensured a product to bank on.
-
If you like a good blend of comedy and thriller then Bank Chor is a film for you.
-
is highly average film with a boring comedy and an outdated thriller ...quotient...
-
Even a substandard or cliched basic plotline could have been sidestepped were only the gags smart enough, or, at least, that there were enough of them. This one spends too much time not going for the laughs. It starts off being about blank chors, and ends up a bank bore.
-
...starts as a slapstick comedy with decent laughs, but then goes the thriller way. This is where it falters; neither does the film make you laugh, nor does it deliver thrills.
-
...a damp squib right from the word go.
-
Even if one overlooks at the glaring loopholes in its tonal switch and professed slyness, it's frustrating how much Bank Chor delays its denouement because nobody cried wolf.
-
Its not that Bank Chor doesn't aim for a cinematic statement, it does, the maker has tried to make a comment on the cultural and other divides in this film but it's so juvenile that it hardly registers and ends up a mockery - a joke on itself.
-
...is low on laughs, squanders its potential, and reflects the ineptitude of the heist in question.
-
...the film has been marketed as a comedy but is actually an aspiring comic-thriller. Aspiring, because it fails majorly in being a comedy, and gives us little thrilling experience.
-
...is a tiresomely bad film.
-
...If the one line of premise had not been stretched so long and stayed focussed on comedy, this film could have been a hoot. But unfortunately it isn't.
-
...what's wrong in this film is not the casting or the acting, but the decision of basing a full-fledged film on a theme so trivial.
-
Despite its many misses, Bank Chor has more verve. Whatever little progress Bumpy has made as a filmmaker, however, is far outweighed by the insidious messaging of this film which cashes in on the prejudices that wrack Indian society today below a mask of good intentions, comedy and thrills.
-
Calling this convoluted mess a film is demeaning to the word, because I have seen 14-year-olds put together better work than this at school plays.
-
...shockingly lame and juvenile...
