Dobaara: See Your Evil
Critic reviews and ratings
-
It’s a faithful remake of Oculus and can make your hair stand at times. Hindi filmmakers rarely achieve such finesse in mostly predictable paranormal stories.
-
...stands out for its unusual treatment and story telling.
-
Powered by brilliant performance by Huma and Saqib, Dobaara gets an extra dose of chill thanks to their terrific chemistry and shifting of shades in their character that spins the surprise.
-
This one had the potential to be more, but it seems so stretched at times that you are almost willng to get behind the screen yourself and kill someone.
-
Watch Dobaara only if you have the guts to overcome, not fear, but boredom.
-
...being a psychological thriller set in the horror genre doesn't come across and is limited to a few scenes.
-
...the portentous game of shadows, silhouettes and sly suggestions, which alternates between the teasing and the terrifying, is too much superficial style for a film so slight.
-
...just doesn't manage to conjure up any scares.
-
...a very disappointing watch.
-
...is too silly to be scary.
-
...barely works as even a suspense thriller.
-
Agreed director Prawaal Raman has a faint body of work to defend or live up to. But this doesn't entitle him to reduce horror to hilarity.
-
If the lack of logic still manages to scare you, this film, an apparent 'tribute' to its Hollywood counterparts, is surely worth your time. For the rest, watching the English version for a second time will be a wiser option.
-
...is so tiresome, you are actually glad whenever the evil presence shows up and begin rooting for it. It's not horror, but horrendous.
-
What you get in the process is very few chills and thrills but a lot of convoluted, half baked, jargon-ridden arguments that don’t add up to anything but boredom.
-
...takes forever to take off, and when it does, it is a non-starter.
