Prince
Critic reviews and ratings
-
...has a terrific first half, where technique and content go hand in hand, but technique overpowers the content in its post-interval portions.
-
...even after a good start in the first half, somehow the happenings in the second half look less convincing. But, director has made the film a visual treat and there are no two opinions on that.
-
They reportedly took Rs 50 crores to make this film and can you believe it? They forgot to hire a story writer for it!
-
Vivek Oberoi suffers intermittent convulsions through the film as his brain hangs like a computer. Wish the viewer had a Ctrl+Alt+Del option. Alas all they can do is curse the makers literally asking them ‘ dimag kharab ho gaya kya? ’
-
The hero and villain — the two central characters are terribly boring.
-
...is the funniest Bollywood movie I've seen this year. I laughed so hard that my sides hurt. Only I don't think that's the reaction debutant director Kookie V Gulati was aiming for.
-
...marvelously moronic movie that uses visual effects to fake everything from stunt scenes and explosions, to hi-tech gizmos and even the Mumbai skyline.
-
...if you love popcorn crunching adventure stories watch Vivek Oberoi play the hero from the hemisphere of hijinks.
-
Those who love mindless thrillers filled with loud explosions and high- speed car chases might enjoy Prince.
-
...entertains in bits and pieces.
-
...a mindless mishmash of various superhero and caper films mixed with a Don like amnesia track and Bond inspired action sequences, all served up Bollywood style.
-
Gulati cannot decide if he wants to emulate a superhero movie or if he’d rather tap into a more human dimension, with the hero in a limbo after having lost his mind. The film itself exists in a bit of a limbo...
-
Quite obviously, moneybag-bizman Mr Taurani knows something about his audiences that we don’t!
-
The question shouldn't be, "Is it good or not?" it should be, "How bad is it?" Action we saw in yesteryears, dialogue we have been listening to from earlier than that. The lameness of a story and its execution, of course, has been taken to a new level.
-
All in all, this film is best avoided. Even Vivek Oberoi's ardent fans must give it a miss. They may no longer be his fans at the end of three hours.
-
The action just about passes muster, but there’s nothing pulse-quickening about it, and it’s all same old same old. The rest is a waste of the scenery.
-
...this film is nothing more than a cheap hybrid between The Matrix (action wise), Dhoom 2 (since Vivek’s character does everything Hrithik does in Dhoom 2) and The Bourne Identity (since Vivek’s character loses his memory but retains his mano e mano fighting skills a la Jason Bourne).
-
The thrills are well shot and action is first-rate but with not meat in the script, Prince suffers big time.
-
...get into the groove to enjoy the expected ridiculousness, and Prince for most of its running time doesn’t disappoint.
