Singh Is Bliing
Critic reviews and ratings
-
...a slapstick comedy that offers paisa-vasool entertainment.
-
...is as overstretched as most Bollywood extravaganzas, but it coasts along on its often wacky humour, its minor characters (Lara Dutta is a hoot) and the chemistry between Jackon and Kumar.
-
...there isn't much by way of a plot or storytelling in this film. It's essentially a set of well-written comic sketches, featuring recurring characters. There's nothing evolved or sophisticated about this film, but that doesn't mean it's not worth a watch.
-
...if described in two words, is random and silly. But, fortunately, it is this randomness that also makes it a breezy, entertaining film for most part of it.
-
This Singh is silly but cute and endearing.
-
...has some genuinely funny moments and Lara Dutta brings a certain freshness to the film.
-
Yet with all its faults, Singh is Bling isn't entirely unwatchable also because Akshay Kumar is in great form.
-
More moronic than mahaan, Akshay's comic timing saves the day.
-
...does have its loopholes in the script, but the ladies do a fab job of keeping us entertained.
-
SIB’s lack of substance makes it forgettable, but while it lasts it is a pleasant, mostly harmless, rib-tickling, side-splitting affair.
-
Watch the film if you like cornball comedies. If you are into leave you brains behind kind of goofiness...
-
No laughs from this one. Well, at least for me.
-
...had a few classic comic scenes. With its lame script and tiresome gags, you’ll forget Singh Is Bliing within seconds of leaving the cinema.
-
...it’s high on pedestrian humour where people shriek in pain after being knocked down by a car or coconut and absconding lions send humans in a tizzy.
-
...a fun-filled affair, only if you choose to abandon your brain a light year away from the ticket windows and then enter the theatre.
-
Why can’t we make just pure comedy – without action, without missing mothers, without villains? I’d have ended up happier had I walked out during the interval.
-
Proves that all of us are ultimately alike, united in absurdity.
-
Watch it if you can forgive seeing much-loved stars reduced to playing stereotypical roles. Watch it if you want Bollywood to be stuck in a pathetic time-warp!
-
...is a low rent comedy and doesn’t care who knows it. Everything about it stoops low: IQ, jokes, scenes. Of course, there is no story, only unconnected, jerky set-pieces.
-
Good thing is that amidst a directionless script there are some funny, though pointless, comic scenes, which help keep one awake.
-
I watched most Singh is Bling recoiling from the screen despite the fact that Akshay Kumar’s comic timing is good and his big boy goofiness adorable.
-
What is irretrievably amiss with the film is that nothing it says manages to drift anywhere near some degree of coherence.
-
...has absolutely no story to offer. Instead, what it has in plenty are some stale jokes and moronic background sound effects.
