Shortcut Romeo
Critic reviews and ratings
-
...a well-made, stylish crime story with high-voltage drama as its highpoint.
-
We wish the director had found a shortcut to tell this story of love,(extra-marital) sex and dhoka.
-
...makes up for loose ends and bizarre twists in the plot by means of sheer masala power.
-
It doesn't feel like they take the audience for granted. Its just that the ability of the writer/director to engage us is limited.
-
...takes too long to unveil a suspense you probably figure out midway. For a suspense thriller, that can be the biggest flaw.
-
The film tries so hard to be slick, you wonder that if it was shot in a realistic manner with real characters, it'd might have worked. Instead the movie is replete with pathetic production values.
-
A thriller that's not thrilling - then, what's the point really?
-
The film does have the entire cat and mouse game that could've been interesting if for a better storyline but in its present form on celluloid only bores you to death.
-
Ganeshan's direction is inconsistent. There's a disconnect between his storytelling style in different parts of the film. Plus he elongates a story that might have been effective as a one-and-a-half-hour songless thriller into an over-two-and-a-half-hour long, song-filled affair.
-
At the end of the movie, you wonder why you did not walk out within the first 20 minutes.
-
...I wasn't feeling very smart when I left the theatre after two and a half hours of this drivel.
-
Lack of a good script, a loose screenplay, predictable twists and horrible editing makes 'Shortcut Romeo' literally an ordeal to watch.
-
Except for few moments - in fact, very few - this purported thriller is way off the target.
-
...leaves the viewer with an unsatisfied taste in the mouth.
-
It's just downright bad...
-
A remake is usually a way to take care of the things that did not work earlier, but Ganesh is too busy having his African extras shake their buttocks...
-
In an effort to make it look cool, it is not just the performances, even the cinematography and action look put on and jerky.
