Lanka
Critic reviews and ratings
-
It is the length of the film and its somewhat laboured tenor which works against it. A bit of pruning and editing would have worked favourably for it.
-
Manoj Bajpayee's first-rate acting is reason enough to watch 'Lanka' but you can also watch it for the fondness of actual locations and small town stories.
-
...the sets are good and the actors do well. But in all honesty the film tends to be boring at times and a few aspects are a bit hard to believe.
-
Patently average. The extra half star's for Mr Bajpayee's grey strokes.
-
...doesn't work for its story but for the performances, especially that of Manoj Bajpayee.
-
...has some shining moments, but they are few and far between.
-
Lanka over all might work for the performances sans the story. However, even at that it would require excessive promotions to drive some audience.
-
A lackluster narrative, despite the over-dramatization, which Manoj Bajpayee somehow tries to hold together with his performance.
-
Picture looks real. Posturing is correct. Accents may be inconsistent, dramebaazi's full-on.
-
Unless it is packaged like the films of the 80s the way Dabbang did, UP and films on its system will continue to bore. Big time. So will the talented Bajpayee.
-
...comes off as too much to do about not much at all.
-
...evokes no emotions, except feel sorry for tremendously talented actors like Manoj Bajpai and Yashpal Sharma.
-
...attempts a stand on domestic violence. Unfortunately, it can barely sit up as a film. And as for the audience, they'll be flat on their backs by the end of it.
-
No point in talking about Manoj Bajpayee and Yashpal Sharma - both powerhouse performers—because the film itself doesn't work.
-
...film plods on to a predictable end, while its slow pace forces the audience to keep waiting for something to happen...
