Bittoo Boss
Critic reviews and ratings
-
You can see it’s made with love. The intention is honest and debutant director Supavitra Babul’s vision of an entertainer (under parental guidance) comes through.
-
...the small-town Punjab he serves up with its dialect, slang, mannerisms and minor characters that are stereotyped and unmemorable yet real, coupled with the performance he gets out of his lead makes it a film well-worth it at all.
-
The film recovers well from its shaky start and just at the end it gives you enough laughs and emotion.
-
The movie tries to capture the promiscuity and amorality in our lives, especially in the small towns. However, interesting social observations don’t necessarily a good film make.
-
...a fairly breezy film that won't leave you bored, but won't have you spell-bound either.
-
...has a couple insights about society and its outlook towards porn and sex. But it puts these points across in a dull, jerky manner and often without energy. Not discardable, neither enjoyable.
-
...is the poor man's Band Baja Baraat but with a voice of its own. What's admirable is it wears that poor man's badge with pride.
-
...the film is neither a love story, nor a comedy, not as bold as it wants to be and certainly not an incisive view of small town India and its growth pangs.
-
A sweet but slapdash effort, this is, all in all, quite like watching a wedding video.
-
The film tosses around some interesting ideas, but can't seem to make them work as a perfect whole.
-
...starts with promise falters due to a contrived plot.
-
What could have had us cracking up becomes dramatically inert, and a film that doesn’t, despite its occasional nice moments, live up to its potential.
-
This one had the potential to be an entertainer, but turns out to be a 'bit-too' much
-
...is desperate to be different, specifically from Band Baaja Baaraat. And it is; it’s not half as good.
-
A good first half but a poor post-interval session.
-
Erratic … that’s what Bittoo Boss is!
-
...the filmmakers don't manage to deliver on the premise Bittoo Boss promises.
-
...is best avoided but you have nothing else to do then watch is only for Pulkit Samrat.
-
...works only for Pulkit Samrat and nothing else. The film is unentertaining and uninspiring.
-
The slipup lies in its incoherent and erratic screenplay: the conflict doesn't work, the love story lacks fizz and the drama lacks the power to influence you.
-
It could have done a lot better in terms of entertainment, if nothing else. Perhaps making a memorable movie wasn’t part of the plan.
