Bewakoofiyaan
Critic reviews and ratings
-
Watch this wonderful slice of life film for the super performances of Rishi, Ayushmann and Sonam, watertight writing, skilled direction and dollops of humor.
-
...scores with its disarming simplicity. Even as it doesn’t soar to dizzying heights, it is never less than watchable.
-
It's light, simple and uncomplicated. Straight from the heart!
-
...watchable but dispensable...
-
The film could have been a modern rom-com dealing with issues of the recession, over-bearing parents, changing love equations etcetera. But what you get are good-looking actors, a few immersing moments, and an amusing sitcom episode at best.
-
Nupur’s direction is balanced but she lacks the support of a strong lead pair and razor sharp witty lines, which are rom-com staples.
-
...has its khoobiyaan but mostly it has majbooriyaan where the story is concerned.
-
Despite desperate attempts to be different, Bewakoofiyaan is only as interesting as the ups and downs of any relationship in trouble.
-
...had the opportunity to be smarter and funnier, unfortunately it plays it too safe to rise above the ordinary.
-
This is the kind of middling film that one doesn't know what to make of. It looks clean, simple and doesn't boast of any highs or lows. Everything, including the change of heart(s), is predictable.
-
Despite three likeable actors in principal roles, 'Bewakoofiyaan' feels lightweight instead of lighthearted. Asthana directs with an easy hand, but she's saddled with a dead duck of a script that simply can't be saved.
-
...it’s going to take a better script than this to make me summon emotion for out-of-work yuppies.
-
An affable romantic comedy that slips out of your mind minutes after you leave the hall.
-
It would be a bewkoofi to spend your money on this one in a theatre.
-
The film doesn’t offer us an escape from reality nor does it warn us against the evils of consumerism. It isn’t even an out-and-out comedy.
-
This plain vanilla film is easily forgettable.
-
A harmless, predictable date movie.
-
...is much more complicated and adult, and by reducing it to a rom-com, Asthana pulls her punches.
-
...spends most of its time trying to showcase a slew of brands, get us to smile at the antics of the father of the bride which are singularly unfunny, and to convince us that its leading lady can helm an entire film.
-
...has no pluck in story, direction, visual treatment or performances.
