Dishoom
Critic reviews and ratings
-
...has a predictable storyline. However, the engaging narrative, coupled with rich visuals and high octane action work in the favour of the film.
-
...as an entertainer, Dishoom delivers. If you're good with laughter, not logic, Dishoom is actually two much fun.
-
This is an out and out pot boiler film which does have its moment where logic can be questioned. But as long as the film keeps you entertained, it won't hurt watching this film.
-
Despite the potholes, Dishoom is a fun for most part.
-
...the film is clearly aiming for laughs, and even when it gets lost along the way, blindsided by some unnecessarily elaborate action moment or by a bicepped un-actor, it still provides a fair bit of corny fun.
-
...lacks imagination, it's formulaic but John and Varun make it watchable.
-
...despite its decent-enough story, doesn't quite make a mark on the mind. The film is a crowd-pleaser...
-
Watch the movie with friends and laugh at Varun Dhawan's antics and Jacqueline's sass. And yes, John Abraham's body.
-
It’s slick, seductive, disposable entertainment.
-
The many chinks in Dishoom’s armour notwithstanding, on this prolonged, dismal monsoon day the film’s infectious cheer seems just what the weather ordered. Whether it lasts beyond the season will be another story.
-
You won’t remember Dishoom for its plot or for its performances. It’s like junk food that’s meant to be savored in the moment, but cannot be counted on for nutrition.
-
There’s far more emphasis on style than script, but Dishoom won’t disappoint fans of the buff leading men.
-
It’s a formula potboiler that serves the purpose of entertainment if you’re looking for some light moments.
-
The basic requisite of enjoying Dishoom is to not have any heavy duty expectations.
-
They have splurged on the film’s styling, but not on the storytelling. Agreed it is a leave-your-brains-at-home entertainer, but some method to the madness would have packed a punch.
-
It’s slick, seductive, disposable entertainment.
-
It’s got flash but the plot keeps stuttering and stops the film from really zip-zap-zooming.
-
The audience sits through the cacophony hoping for a genuine knockout blow to be delivered somewhere down the line. It never materialises. Dishoom doesn't land a single half-decent punch.
-
A thriller that cannot be bogged down by details. An action film that cannot be bothered to even attempt innovative moves.
-
...is a sporadically engaging, intermittently funny, yet always insubstantial film.
-
Dishoom’s premise has promise – two mismatched police officers join hands to rescue India’s cricketing jewel from a kidnapping – but Desi Boyz director Rohit Dhawan simply cannot get the film to jumpstart despite all the elements being in place.
-
Disappointing action film, or a prototype of the Modi-era masala movie?
-
The problem with Dhawan however is - forget good filmmaking - he has miles to go before even reaching Abbas-Mustan level of keeping you entertained.
