Mr Joe B. Carvalho
Critic reviews and ratings
-
Had the film been as honourable as their intentions seemed (of making a clean comedy that is neither slapstick nor adult), this genre may have actually got a fillip.
-
Just as we have 'keep your brains behind' action/thriller flicks with super stars, this one too falls in that category, but with a difference. At least, you don't leave the theatre fuming!
-
...an over-the-top and loud slapstick comedy that you have to be in a large group and a really giggly mood to enjoy.
-
...has few moments that stay with you, but a weak second half plays the spoilsport.
-
It’s impossible to endure a below-par film for just a couple of funny moments.
-
...a feeble attempt that fails to provide any comic relief.
-
...isn’t likely to catch any sane viewer’s fancy. It’s best deleted as two hours misspent.
-
A comedy film comprises a funny script and good dialogues. 'Mr Joe B Carvalho' sadly lacks both.
-
...is certainly cleaner than the average Bollywood comedy nowadays, but something’s been lost in the rinsing.
-
You might consider knocking back a few before heading out to watch Mr Joe B Carvalho, the sort of misguided madcap comedy that can only be endured in a state of semi-intoxication.
-
Slapstick jokes need not be logical, but they must be built around a slightly coherent storyline; and the humour must sustain itself. This film does neither.
-
It is supposed to be a satire; it is supposed to be a theatre of the absurd but unfortunately all that remains an idea on paper. On screen it is relentless torture.
-
...fails miserably and is devoid of any reason for one to watch this film.
-
...a plot that that is so asinine that it leaves one speechless.
-
The film tries very, very hard to be smart. All it manages to be is downright silly.
-
...pathetic attempt at comedy.
-
Joe B Carvalho is that annoying friend who won't stop forcing those unbearable PJs on you as you try to laugh politely while one eye seeks an emergency exit.
-
...an appallingly bad film with no comedy, no story, no performance.
