Phata Poster Nikhla Hero
Critic reviews and ratings
-
...an entertainer all the way.
-
This one's worth it for the 'howlarity' of it all. And Shahid in his element.
-
...the film is worth more than a few laughs.
-
It’s sweet, funny and goofy, a good ol’ clean comedy from Bollywood after a long time.
-
...is just about watchable for the few funny moments and an interesting first half.
-
...is not one of Rajkumar Santoshi's best works yet, but considering the genre, the director has stuck to the premise of packing in all the ingredients that makes it a masala film, without trying to go over-the-top.
-
...makes the strongest possible case yet to the movie trade and viewers that Kapoor cannot be written off easily.
-
Watch this film only if you are a Shahid Kapoor fan. And if you are a Rajkumar Santoshi fan, watch Andaz Apna Apna instead to save yourself from disappointment.
-
...entertains in bits...
-
We really only care about the laughs. But what Santoshi’s making aren’t just comedies. They’re reverential homage. They’re tongue-in-cheek throwback. They’re a love letter to the movies. They’re utterly one-of-a-kind.
-
...the problem is that the film keeps breaking its promise of comic. Not happy being jhallu-mallu, it straightens its clothes and poses, saying I’m not just a parody, I’m a real film. That’s when it gets dull.
-
...has funny elements but very few and far in between.
-
...is funny but not as much as it should’ve been.
-
Occasionally, I half-smiled at the laboured silliness put forth by this clean but clichéd farce. Only the darn poster is, ultimately, too phata, purana for anything to come out of it except disillusionment.
-
Pretty much what you'd expect - silly and more silly which is funny occasionally, story that has no idea when to stop, and so on.
-
...this movie just seems like a sorry rehash of what the director has done before.
-
It loses steam at the halfway mark when the laughs suddenly dry up.
-
Shahid carries it halfway but the film runs out of jokes.
-
...is meant to make us laugh, but ends up making us groan instead.
-
...is the kind of dim-witted comedy that might leave the hardiest of Bollywood junkies in tears.
